We absolutely loved our couples sushi cooking class with Chef Harold! After he made us spicy salmon cupcakes and spicy tuna tacos (his own invention), we learned how to make hand rolls, and roll our own sushi. He’s an excellent teacher, and told us a bit about his career. He brought everything, including the pots and pans! And then he cleaned up the kitchen and shared photos and videos of our evening. It was delicious and there was plenty for leftovers.

We had the best time with Chef Harold! We booked the sushi and ramen experience and the food was incredible - you can tell he's so passionate about his work. I bought this as a gift for my brother and his girlfriend. They had a wonderful time, and said nothing but great things about chef Harold! Food was delicious and they left beyond full with leftovers. Learned a ton and they said they plan to go to a fish market and try it again this week. He also was so easy to communicate with via the app. I had requested a sight time change and he accommodated us with no issue. The only thing they wish they had time to learn about more was how to clean and prepare fish for sushi when buying it themselves, but of course you can only cover so much in one two hour course. Chef Harold was terrific! We booked this somewhat last minute (less than a month from day of event) for a special 40th birthday surprise dinner with 6 adults (and 1 toddler present half of the meal - till bedtime). We have an open floor plan and we hanging out at the kitchen table and island while Chef Harold started preparing the multi-course meal featuring ramen as the main event. Chef Harold focused on cooking while we had our own conversation (sharing this because some chefs sort of entertain/talk while cooking as part of their shtick, this wasn't his approach - which we really liked for this occasion so we could enjoy ourselves but also in the background see/smell the cooking; seems like he is used to making meals where folks maybe don't even want to be present for the cooking). Chef Harold first reheated the appetizer which he had prepared in advance and then started cooking the other courses which took him some time and that was nice because it helped pace the evening with different courses throughout. We didn't realize the individual ramen bowls would be HUGE so were already full on the earlier courses by time it came (!) and had plenty of leftovers. The food was DELICIOUS and we learned Chef Harold is a really prominent sushi chef who has worked for a number of celebrities etc. We were a bit sad we hadn't picked a sushi menu (but that was for good reason - birthday person doesn't like Sushi). We learned all this while eating the main course as Chef Harold came over to talk with us for a bit after he finished cooking. He was very interesting and friendly and it was great talking with him. He brought his own plastic serving platters/utensils/plates that he then cleaned and took with him (less cleanup for us! Though we did provide some platters to him that we then had to clean after which was no big deal). Highly recommend!

We had Chef Harold over tonight for the Asian Street Food class. It was our first time with Cozymeal and Chef Harold and it was fun and engaging! Having it in our home meant we didn't have to get a babysitter and we loved the intimate setting and getting to chat with Chef Harold. We felt very special. The chicken was our favorite - so crispy and I can't believe we made it ourselves. Chef Harold also made a custom super spicy noodle option for my husband who loves spicy food. My sister gifted us this experience as a Christmas gift & chef Harold did not disappoint! He arrived on time and even accommodated our 30 min delay when my husband was running late from an event. He was super friendly, told us all about his family and work - life experiences. The food was so delicious and seemed to whip it right up in an instant. He was engaging and made jokes with our two young kids to keep them entertained and happy! We took fun photos and videos the whole time laughing and eating - what a fun family experience! Chef Harold was absolutely amazing! My husband, mother in law, and 6 year old son all had a wonderful time as Chef Harold taught them how to roll their own sushi. We had a blast in the Asian Street Food cooking class. Chef Harold showed up with everything we needed for the class and cleaned up after, so it was super hands-off for us. He was flexible with the menu and made adjustments according to our preferences. Everything we made was incredible! The class was a great balance of prepping ingredients, learning the cooking process, and just enjoying the food and conversations with Chef Harold. Highly recommend! Held in the private demo kitchen at the Time Out Boston location in the Fenway area, the venue was fantastic. Chef was welcoming and knowledgeable and was able to interact with our large team with energy and enthusiasm. We learned a lot while having fun preparing a 5-course Asian Fusion meal. Everyone was having so much fun, we went an hour longer than the event was scheduled for! We left with full stomachs, and a new appreciation for this chef's broad culinary talents. Chef Harold’s class was amazing. I booked the class as a birthday present for my girlfriend, who has Celiac and can rarely have teriyaki sauce and had never had tempura before. Chef Harold makes everything at home so it’s all gluten free, and he’s very knowledgeable about food safety in general. The sushi we made was the best sushi we’ve ever had. Chef Harold is a great teacher and has a very fun personality, which made the class even better. We especially appreciated hearing about his long experience making sushi and his explanation of the different types of sushi. Chef Harold exceeded our hopes and expectations! We did the sushi making class with him a while back and enjoyed his food and recipes so much that we wanted more! The tour of Asia was absolutely delicious in every way possible. All of the courses were so scrumptious it was hard to choose a favorite. Chef Harold’s chicken wings were so crispy and the “special sauce” was seriously something special. The sushi nigiri was fresh and the drunken noodles were So flavorful and chock full of chicken, shrimp and lobster. Chef Harold worked with me to create a dumpling class for my boyfriend and I and he made it so fun! It was hands on but we also got to watch Chef and relax and drink some wine, too. I booked Chef Harold's class for a surprise gift for my family for Christmas. From the moment Chef Harold arrived at our home, everybody was so engaged. Chef Harold introduced himself and spoke about his journey, interspersed with lots of humour. It was a great way to start the evening and establish a wonderful rapport. Chef Harold is clearly an expert in making sushi and has an unique ability to teach his skills in a very patient and effective way. The family was able to make their own sushi creations which gave everybody a sense of pride. One of our family members is vegetarian and Chef Harold made her feel very much included and helped her create delicious vegetarian sushi with sweet potato which we all loved! Chef Harold is very organised and came with everything he needed for the class. You only have to provide the space and sit down and be entertained. Chef Harold's energy is contagious and we all agreed, it was the best gift we received EVER! We would book Chef Harold again with no hesitation, he truly is a brilliant sushi chef and human being.

I booked Chef Harold specifically because of how many positive reviews he has. The sushi was the best I’ve ever had but that wasn’t my favorite part to be honest. His personality is why I want to express how happy I am that I booked with Chef Harold. When I requested the class I wrote in the comments that I had gastric bypass surgery 7 months ago (so I can only have brown rice and nothing fried) and that I love sushi because the protein it provides really gives my body what it needs. When he arrived he told me he made a couple exceptions for me because of my comment (1. He has never gone to NH, that’s where I live. 2. He has a two person minimum, I booked for just myself). He truly wants to help/educate people that want to learn about healthier ways to eat and prepare food. He even left me a sushi roll mat as a Christmas gift! His kindness inspired me to tell my story of surgery to others because some of those people just may help you. He helped me tremendously!!

This review is well overdue and I am sorry it took me so long to post as our event was over a month ago, but of course, I have not forgotten what an amazing experience this was- how could you? Chef Harold was amazing. He showed up right on time with all of his cooking necessities and food for a cooking class night to our Air BNB in Boston for my sister Bach party. He not only offered to accommodate all the people that could not eat spicy food, He offered to teach us and serve us two different meals for each course- two different soups, two types of fried chicken and two noodle dishes- he let us all taste and share. He also made a unique dessert that was not included. Upon arrival, He introduced himself with the details of his life and family- making us feel very at home with him. He was very funny and make cooking very fun, told stories of where the dishes came from, took a lot of fun pictures and taught us his techniques- simplifying something I thought was very complicated and made it extremely doable for everyday life. The whole event lasted for almost 4 hours. By the time the last dish was served, we were all so full that we could barely put a bite of it in our mouths. We waited about 2 hours and then gobbled that down and froze the leftovers to save as much as possible and savor over the next few days. About the food- Some of the best food I have ever eaten. Nothing has compared since then! I strongly recommend Chef Harold and definitely would use him again if back in the Boston area! Thanks Chef!

Chef Harold was extremely accommodating to dietary restrictions as there was someone who was pregnant and a gluten intolerance. Chef Harold was wonderful! He was very friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The experience overall was very entertaining and interesting. It is certainly worth the cost and there is plenty of food included (come hungry!), and Chef Harold has some unique recipes and added ingredients to sushi which we enjoyed. We had a lot of leftovers, and it was still delicious the following morning. Highly recommend and would definitely hire again!

We had an amazing with chef Harold! Starting with his personality he is charming, friendly and a great teacher. As a sushi chef he is top notch. The rolls he made were unique and delicious not your run of the mill sushi. Chef Harold takes the time to explain the process, ingredients, and his personal craftsmanship. Overall this was an awesome experience that could be had by as few as 2 for a stay in date night or a larger gathering. Enjoy!

Chef Harold's class was amazing. His warm personality and teaching skills added a magic touch to the event. The selection of sushi, intricate preparation and the tips & tricks he shared made it a memorable experience. We got the class as a mothers day special. In addition to the sushi the moms loved his miso soup and edamame salad too. I highly recommend Chef Harold for a fantastic time and mouthwatering sushi!

We had so much fun with Harold celebrating my sister's 40th! The sushi rolls, salad and soup Harold made us were incredible (the lobster one - amazing!!) and then it was so fun to really learn how to make your own sushi. We had a teeny tiny kitchen but Harold made it work without any issues! He was super accommodating with my gluten allergy, as well. So much fun, we'd love to do it again!

Chef Harold is the best! His knowledge of sushi and beyond is incredible and very interesting. The miso soup and edamame salad were some of the best we've had and the sushi was excellent. Our favorite was the BLT roll. He did a fantastic job of teaching and explaining tastes and ingredients. As an added bonus, his stories really brought the food to life. We will certainly be using Chef Harold in the future and recommending him to friends for fun dinners as well as group catering!

We had a sushi night at my house with chef Harold that was given as a Christmas gift for six of us. Chef Harold was beyond amazing. He shared his knowledge and brought everything needed for the night. His sushi was delicious and presentation was amazing. Chef Harold gave us hands on experience, he was witty and entertaining. My wife and I had a great experience with Chef Harold. He arrived at hour house promptly and was ready to make sushi and teach us along the way. He took careful notes to accommodate our fish preferences and brought exactly what we wanted. It was a lot of fun and sushi was very tasty. We had so much food that we could not finish it all. We ended up having more next day. Let me also mention that Chef Harold is a very nice and friendly person. We would definitely recommend this fun sushi experience!

We had a great experience with Chef Harold. He was happy to accommodate our salmon-loving palette and we ended up with 9 courses by the end of the night! We learned a lot about sushi techniques, ingredients, and vocabulary. Wouldn't hesitate to book Chef Harold again. He left us with plenty of delicious leftovers and gave us a bamboo mat as a gift!

They came to our house amid a snowstorm to create a wonderful, DELICIOUS, memory for our family. Chef Harold was unfazed by three dogs and a newborn! We had a wonderful time doing the Asian Street Food class with Chef Harold! He went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary restrictions, coming up with some delicious vegetarian substitutes for the normal dishes on the menu. He was professional, knowledgeable, and fun in the kitchen, and all the food exceeded our expectations. Chef Harold was even kind enough to leave us with his homemade recipes and some leftovers so that we will be able to try cooking these dishes on our own next time!

Chef Harold was so great! He was very personable and professional. We requested an entirely vegan menu, and we could tell that Chef Harold put a lot of thought into making this experience great for us. His specialty rolls were so much more unique and tasty than the typical vegan options at most sushi restaurants. He also took the time to teach us how to make everything which was really fun for us. It was a great experience with great food and a really great chef! Would definitely recommend, especially if you are vegan (or vegetarian) and looking to eat and learn how to make something more interesting than a cucumber-avocado roll.

My sister in law loved sushi so I found out about a cozy meal through just googling. I came across “Sushi Spectacular” class on the website and everything seemed so interested so I booked it. I read good things about Chef Harold but I was still sooo nervous because I never used this website before and I was going in blindly. Chef Harold arrived on time with everything prepared and ready to start. He educated, taught us, showed us everything from appetizers to entree. He made us laugh sooo much!! I honestly couldn’t be happier about this ENTIRE experience. Seeing the joy on my sister in laws face calmed me down and I am SO happy to have used Chef Harold in this sushi making experience! We look forward to using Chef Harold on many more occasions.

Chef Harold 100% exceeded my expectations. I was celebrating my boyfriend's birthday, and Chef Harold went above and beyond to make the night exceptional. He is very knowledgeable and teaches you all about the history of sushi as well as how to make it properly and safely. The food was phenomenal and picture perfect! It was such a fun experience, and I would recommend him to anybody looking for a night with a personal chef. He gave us the leftover ingredients, which we used to make sushi again the following night which wasn't half bad (if I don't say so myself).

Warm, engaging, fun, talented, generous. These are just a few words I would use to described Chef Harold Tan after my experience with him. The "Sushi Spectacular" dinner that I booked was precisely that: spectacular. He prepared a delicious miso soup, edamame salad, and 10 delicious and beautifully plated sushi rolls for me and my girlfriend. He also gave us our own sushi rolling mat as a gift! After the night was done (he spent an extra 30 minutes with us past what he was scheduled to do), he gave us the rest of his homemade salad dressing (sweet and spicy) as well as extra homemade mango-sriracha and teriyaki sauce. Chef Harold told my girlfriend and I that we were his first class ever, which is perhaps why we didn't get to try rolling sushi ourselves, but he was certainly thorough in showing us how to do it in the future. I cannot recommend this man highly enough, he was more than worth it.

I worked with Harold at Legal Seafoods, where he was a head sushi chef for 3 years.
