These peanut butter rice krispie treats are extra thick and gooey. The addition of peanut butter, chocolate and a sprinkling of flaky sea salt gives these rice krispie treats a sweet and salty spin.

miniature marshmallows
1/2 cup(s)
smooth peanut butter
1/2 tsp
vanilla extract
1/2 tsp
kosher salt
8 cup(s)
crispy rice cereal
4 oz
melted chocolate, optional
Maldon salt, optional

Step 1

Grease and line a 9x9-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Measure and prep all ingredients.

In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt the unsalted butter.

Add the marshmallows and stir until the marshmallows melt.

Remove the pot from heat. Stir in the peanut butter, vanilla extract and salt.

Gently stir in the rice cereal.

Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan. Lightly press the mixture into the pan. Do not overpack.

Drizzle melted chocolate over the rice krispie treats and lightly sprinkle the top with Maldon salt, if desired.

Let the mixture cool completely, about 1 hour.

Notes:

For a peanut crunch, fold in chopped peanuts and use crunchy peanut butter.

These PB Rice Krispie treats are always a hit and get devoured instantly. This recipe is a fun twist on an old classic, and who doesn't love peanut butter??
