Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large pot over medium heat, add the lard and bacon and cook.
Once the bacon is cooked, add the onion, garlic, mushrooms and cook until the onions have softened.
Mix in the chicken stock, chardonnay, Worcestershire sauce and mustard.
Add the whipping cream, cheddar cheese and cream cheese. Cook together until the sauce is smooth.
Stir in the green beans, lemon zest and parsley. Add the optional keto sugar and/or the slurry, if using it. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Transfer mixture into a 9x12-inch baking dish and bake for 15 minutes. While the casserole is baking, make the fried onion topping. Dip the onions in buttermilk, then into the seasoned keto flour and fry until golden.
Top the casserole with the fried onions and bake for an additional 5 minutes in the oven. Serve hot. Enjoy!
