light corn syrup
1/4 cup(s)
dark brown sugar
1/4 tsp
fine sea salt

dark chocolate, chopped, see notes

Dutch-process cocoa powder, see notes

vanilla extract

Step 1

In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add the butter, heavy cream, corn syrup, brown sugar and salt.

Bring the mixture to a simmer. Simmer while stirring for 2 minutes.

Add the dark chocolate and stir until melted, about 1-2 minutes.

Once the chocolate melts, turn off the heat and whisk in the cocoa powder. Whisk until no lumps remain.

Turn on the heat back to low and simmer while whisking constantly until the sauce is glossy, less than 1 minute.

Turn off the heat and whisk in the vanilla extract.

Notes:

  • It is important to use high-quality chocolate and Dutch-process cocoa powder for a decadent hot fudge sauce.

No more store-bought awful fake "fudge" sauce. This was a snap to make and uber-delish!
