Step 1

In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add the butter, heavy cream, corn syrup, brown sugar and salt.

Step 2

Bring the mixture to a simmer. Simmer while stirring for 2 minutes.

Step 3

Add the dark chocolate and stir until melted, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 4

Once the chocolate melts, turn off the heat and whisk in the cocoa powder. Whisk until no lumps remain.

Step 5

Turn on the heat back to low and simmer while whisking constantly until the sauce is glossy, less than 1 minute.

Step 6

Turn off the heat and whisk in the vanilla extract.

Step 7

Serve over ice cream or any other dessert. Enjoy!

Notes:

  • It is important to use high-quality chocolate and Dutch-process cocoa powder for a decadent hot fudge sauce.
  • Store the hot fudge sauce in the refrigerator. Reheat in the microwave in 15-second intervals until melted and glossy.
  • Packaged in a pretty jar, hot fudge sauce is a great hostess or holiday gift.
