Measure and prep all ingredients.
In a one-quart pot over medium heat, add the canola oil, diced onions and garlic. Cook until the onions are translucent.
Add the red pepper flakes and diced tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth.
Add the cold butter to the marinara sauce and blend for 30 seconds.
Use immediately on pasta or save for later use. Enjoy!
