Ingredients

Servings:
4
For the Marinade
1 1/2 cup(s)
buttermilk
4
garlic cloves, crushed
2 tsp
salt
2 tsp
sugar
2 tsp
smoked paprika
freshly ground black pepper
For the Air Fryer Drumsticks
1
batch of marinade, see above
2 lb
chicken drumsticks
2 tblsp
avocado oil
1/2 tsp
garlic powder
1/2 tsp
onion powder
1/2 tsp
smoked paprika
1/4 tsp
cayenne pepper
salt and pepper to taste

Directions 10 steps | 515 Minutes

Step 1

Make the brine. In a large bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, garlic, salt, sugar, smoked paprika and black pepper.

Step 2

Add the drumsticks, making sure that it is completely covered by the brine.

Step 3

Cover the bowl and refrigerate overnight.

Step 4

When ready to air fry, mix together the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper and pepper to taste.

Step 5

Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Remove the drumsticks from the brine and pat away excess brine.

Step 6

Coat the drumsticks with avocado oil.

Step 7

Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the drumsticks. Sprinkle on salt to taste.

Step 8

Place drumsticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to fry the drumsticks in two batches.

Step 9

Air fry the drumsticks for 20-25 minutes, rotating the drumsticks halfway through cooking. Drumsticks should be golden brown and the internal temperature should be at least 165°F.

Step 10

Serve immediately with any side you desire. Enjoy!

Notes:

Sweet or hot paprika may be substituted for smoked paprika if desired.

This is a great recipe if you don't want to heat up your entire oven, especially in the summer! It does take a little prep with the overnight brine, but it's definitely worth the wait!
