All PopCorners Flavors Ranked in 2025

The best PopCorners flavors include Kettle Corn and Sea Salt

It’s no surprise that new PopCorners flavors are popping up all over the place these days. As the world gets more health-conscious but no less peckish, snack brands are always scrambling to corner the market for healthier imitations of our favorite salty snacks. The popped tortilla-chip alternatives offered by PopCorners are no different.

In fact, according to a Market.us report, the healthy snack market is expected to be worth USD 142.6 billion by 2032, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5% between 2023 and 2033.

With so much growth, it’s no surprise that the market is getting saturated. And, in this business, you’ve got to keep innovating, which for many snack brands, PopCorners included, means launching new flavors.

However, this constant proliferation of PopCorners flavors only makes things more confusing when trying to choose a great snack at the store. So, without buying pounds of PopCorners every time you grocery shop, are you supposed to know what the best PopCorners flavors might be?

Fret not: the world of PopCorners isn’t as vast as it seems, and if you’re looking to dive in, this handy list of PopCorners flavors ranked is a good place to start.

PopCorners Flavors List: Top 8 Flavors Ranked

8. Sea Salt

Ranking this most classic PopCorners flavor last is a bold move. It’s the most ubiquitous flavor, so if you like PopCorners, it’s probably because you tried this flavor first. How could we possibly rank the flavor that started it all in dead last?

Well, that would be because they’re just…boring. That’s not to say that Sea Salt PopCorners aren’t tasty, or that you might not really enjoy idly snacking on them from time to time, but in a whole lineup of better PopCorners flavors, they don’t really do anything that makes them stand out.

When you take away the bold, fun flavors that characterize the other PopCorners flavors, you’re left with nothing but constant reminders that you’re not really eating tortilla chips.

And is that ever a good thing when it comes to healthy chips? Nope. At least in our case, we want to forget that what we’re eating is supposed to be healthy, thank you very much.

Unless you genuinely prefer food a little less flavorful (and that’s no knock — there are those of us who do!), or you’re planning on dipping these in something with a much stronger flavor, Sea Salt is probably not going to scratch your snacking itch.

7. Sweet Chili

Now let’s move on to a PopCorners flavor with a decidedly different problem. There’s nothing boring about Sweet Chili, but it might actually be aiming too high when it comes to flavor.

Any sweet-and-spicy combination flavor is going to be unusually hard to pull off; that’s just the nature of working with opposite flavors. But sweet chili flavors can be downright inspired when the finished product manages to pull off that perfect balance, and Sweet Chili PopCorners just don’t.

There really aren’t any awful PopCorners flavors on this list. That should be a given when the baseline chip itself is ranked dead last: it only gets better from there.

So it goes without saying that Sweet Chili PopCorners don’t fail dramatically. They won’t make you wince at the sweetness or run for the nearest jug of milk. But therein might actually lie the problem.

Sweet Chili depends on balancing two very strong flavors, and the issue here is that neither of those flavors is actually all that strong. Mild spice might be good, but this PopCorners flavor is probably too mild to satisfy the true spice-seekers that it’s clearly marketed to. Overall, this flavor just isn’t as much as most fans would like it to be.

6. Spicy Queso

This PopCorners flavor is most notably the one to grab at the grocery store if your diet has left you craving Doritos. While “Spicy Queso” sounds like it could mean a lot of things, what it actually appears to mean in this case is “cheese with a hint of pepper and something a little tangy” — and doesn’t that sound almost exactly like a Dorito? That similarity might be a huge plus for some snackers, but to others, it probably won’t do the flavor any favors.

One thing we have to get straight first, though: if you’re here because you heard the word “spicy” and got excited, you may want to leave for greener pastures. Sure, there’s a bit of a kick to these puffy Dorito taste-alikes, but by no means is this a hot chip.

Going in expecting that will inevitably lead you to disappointment. Much like the Sweet Chili PopCorners flavor, Spicy Queso has a bit of an image problem that way. However, this one edges out the similarly burdened Sweet Chili flavor by virtue of accidentally imitating a beloved non-healthy snack pretty darn well.

You’re not going to think you’re actually eating a Dorito, that’s true — but there’s enough of the same peppery, cheesy flavor there to take the edge off.

5. Sour Cream and Onion

Sour Cream and Onion is a favorite chip flavor, but we rarely see it in the popcorn world. PopCorners brings the flavor into its fold of popcorn chips, and while the results are generally good, the reception is a bit mixed.

Like too many other PopCorners flavors in this lineup, Sour Cream and Onion falls prey to the inevitable pitfall of healthy snacks. Flavors just aren’t as intense in nature as they are when someone’s cooking up the most potent sour cream and onion flavor possible in a lab, and some fans would rather have the intense tang of the fake stuff.

Sour Cream and Onion PopCorners taste great — let’s get that sorted first. This has never been a question of whether they’re a good flavor, because they are. The flavors are balanced and taste like the real things they represent.

It’s just that fans used to other brands’ interpretations of Sour Cream and Onion snacks are going to come in expecting a totally different flavor profile, and those dashed expectations are likely going to have people feeling down on the flavor.

We’re all for a more muted flavor profile if it means it’s a little less processed, but the general consensus here is that Sour Cream and Onion isn’t as effective as it could be.

4. White Cheddar

PopCorners rarely seem to do something that seems super obvious: imitate actual popcorn flavors. Some of their best flavors do just that, so you think they’d do it more often. It rarely happens, though (RIP, discontinued Movie Theater Butter flavor), so when it does, it’s all the more exciting.

White Cheddar is one of those rare PopCorners flavors that takes a classic popcorn flavor and modifies it for the chip medium, and while it’s not a slam-dunk, it’s a much more harmonious and appealing chip than some of the lower-ranked options on this list.

So why fourth place? That’s partly because the top three PopCorners flavors are so strong, and partly because it stops just short of brilliance. White cheddar snacks often have a sharp, immediately recognizable tang, no doubt thanks to the copious amounts of artificial white cheddar powder caked to the surface of every chip or kernel.

And obviously, a more health-forward white cheddar chip is going to lean more heavily on the milder natural flavor of the cheese. For the health-conscious eater, that’s a great thing. But if you’re expecting something like, say, Smartfood Popcorn, you may find these guys to fall a touch on the bland side.

3. Cinnamon Crunch

Before you call us crazy for ranking this PopCorners flavor so high, think about how much — and to what great effect — the combination of cinnamon-sugar and corn tortillas has been used in Mexican cuisine. Surely you’ve had a cinnamon-sugar tortilla chip, or even an unrelated corn-based cinnamon treat like a churro?

And we all know that sweet popcorn flavors (kettle corn, caramel corn, the list goes on) are some of the most popular. So it only makes sense that coating popped corn chips in cinnamon sugar would work out.

Admittedly, Cinnamon Crunch fills a different niche than most PopCorners flavors. Most of them are classic grazing snacks — savory but insubstantial snacks you can pair with your meal as a side dish or lazily eat out of the bag without feeling like you’re spoiling a meal. That’s clearly not the case when you open a bag of Cinnamon Crunch PopCorners.

They feel more like a light dessert, halfway between chips and churros, so it’s difficult to evaluate them exactly the same way we would a savory flavor. That said, if we go by taste, execution and appeal, Cinnamon Crunch earns itself a deserved place in the top three.

2. Jalapeño Popper

Limited-edition snack flavors are often flashes in the pan, hardly destined to join the venerable ranks of the best gas station snacks anytime soon. But PopCorners isn’t like that: limited-edition PopCorners flavor releases are few and far between, and those they do release tend to be winners.

That’s exactly the case with Jalapeño Popper, a limited-time flavor that debuted last year to rave reviews. They’ve since become so beloved that we wouldn’t be surprised if the company chose to keep them around permanently.

That’s thanks to a healthy balance of creamy cheese flavor and the kick of the jalapeno. Unlike many of the other PopCorners flavors with a bit of a kick, Jalapeño Popper PopCorners offer exactly what they claim to: a well-done jalapeño-and-cheese flavor.

They’re a bit spicy, but your expectations aren’t ratcheted up by over-enthusiastic branding, so you’re not erroneously expecting serious heat. And together, the milder flavors of cheese and jalapeño are enough to avoid the slight blandness that plagues many PopCorners flavors.

While we’d be willing to bet that this popular flavor will be sticking around, there’s no guarantee of that. So if this sounds like a PopCorners flavor you’d like to try for yourself, allow us to gently nudge you in the direction of the snack aisle to grab it before it’s gone. We have our hunches, but you never do know.

1. Kettle Corn

When we mentioned earlier that PopCorners flavors tend to excel when they imitate real popcorn, this was the flavor we had in mind. It transcends the sweet-savory snack continuum that boxes Cinnamon Crunch into a “dessert snack” role, but the sweet-savory balance it pulls off so well never distracts or detracts from the real appeal of kettle corn: snacking your way into a sugar coma.

And it works so well largely because kettle corn’s sugar-and-salt coating is made for popcorn. There’s no awkward mismatch between intention and execution here, no slightly blander imitation of a better-known snack.

No, Kettle Corn is PopCorners in its element. It’s easily the most snackable flavor, and if you’re not careful, you might look down and find your bag half-empty when you could swear it was full five minutes ago.

These are popcorn chips, after all. Mimicking the singular experience of catching a whiff of hot, fresh kettle corn on the wind at a carnival was the best choice PopCorners possibly could’ve made.

How Many Flavors of PopCorners Are There?

If you only look at the PopCorners website, it’ll look like there are seven flavors of PopCorners. However, that list doesn’t account for discontinued, limited-edition or otherwise unavailable flavors that are still out there if you know where to look.

Many PopCorners flavors actually outlast discontinuation through third-party retailers — Sour Cream and Onion is a great example of this. So if you keep your eyes peeled, there might be eight or more PopCorners flavors on the market.

So while the official product list is generally reliable, you might hear a slightly different story if you check retailers like Amazon or food delivery apps that deliver groceries.

PopCorners aren’t everybody’s thing, and they probably never will be. For some, the texture is just too weird to overlook; others would rather full-send it and indulge in a salty snack that isn’t trying to be health-conscious.

But for those who do love PopCorners, this list of PopCorners flavors ranked ought to set the record straight on which ones are most worth adding to your next cart of groceries.
