31 Best Goldfish Flavors Ranked in 2025

Published on July 25, 2025 | 0 Comments
There are over 30 Goldfish flavors to try

There are few among us who wouldn’t go for a bowl of Goldfish crackers, but did you know there are actually dozens of Goldfish flavors to try beyond the typical cheddar?

No longer is your choice between regular or Flavor Blasted fish. Sweet or salty, classic or a little out-there, there’s a Goldfish flavor in literally every snack niche these days.

If you ever want to blow the mind of your inner child, just pick up a bag of one of the more out-there Goldfish snacks. But which ones? Some Goldfish flavors sound so outlandish that it’s difficult to imagine they could ever even come close to the greatness of the original, and you’ll definitely need a reliable guide to find the best ones.

Out of all the Goldfish flavors, which sink and which swim? Join us as we break down the 31 best Goldfish flavors, ranked from worst to best.

The 31 Best Goldfish Crackers Flavors Ranked

31. Mega Bites Cheddar Jalapeño

In the snack world, bigger is sometimes better: anyone who’s eaten a Double Stuf Oreo could probably tell you that. But in this case, making the classic Goldfish bigger just doesn’t make any sense.

What was the point? Goldfish are a top-tier grazing snack, not a cracker you dunk in your soup or artichoke dip. What you get when you supersize Goldfish is a confused take on a snack that didn’t really need any tweaking. It also lacks the kick that you’d hope for in a so-called jalapeño Goldfish flavor.

The Mega Bites line was a bit of an odd departure from the usual Goldfish fare that didn’t quite hit the mark.

30. Whole Grain Colors

Both standard Colors and regular Baked With Whole Grain Cheddar rank significantly higher up on this list, so why the low score for the combination snacks, Whole Grain Colors? Honestly, the vibe is just a little off here.

The denser and stodgier texture of whole grain Goldfish is more noticeable than in the regular Cheddar variant, and somehow those muted colors make them seem even more likely to fall into the health-at-the-expense-of-taste category.

They’re not awful, but they have the same energy as those digestive cookies you may have found in your grandparents’ snack cabinet growing up.

29. Xtra Cheddar Baked With Whole Grain

This whole-grain Goldfish flavor is a weird nexus of not one but three of the Goldfish product lines that Pepperidge Farm currently makes: Favorites, Baked With Whole Grain, and Flavor Blasted. It should come as no shock that it’s a lot.

We have nothing against the Baked With Whole Grain, no matter what anybody else on the internet says. We’re all for a health-forward take on a popular snack. But when you cover the things in cheese powder, you quickly get to a point where far too much is going on.

These aren’t terrible, but they don’t reflect the best things about Goldfish (their mild, cheesy savoriness or light texture), either.

28. Mega Bites Sharp Cheddar

See Mega Bites Cheddar Jalapeño for the general gist of our argument regarding ranking this Goldfish flavor on the lower end of the list. The only reason this Goldfish flavor ranks any higher than Cheddar Jalapeño is that at least the Cheddar flavor these crackers are aiming for comes through loud and clear.

27. Cinnamon Roll Grahams

Many of the sweet Goldfish flavors are high performers on this list, so don’t take this low rank as a general indictment of the whole line. That said, this flavor is not a winner. The cinnamon flavor is unavoidably artificial, and a cinnamon roll might be a little too ambitious a model for a Goldfish flavor.

26. Pumpkin Spice Grahams

While pumpkin spice latte superfans tend to have generally positive things to say about this Goldfish flavor, it’s not the runaway hit that it could’ve been. You might taste more graham cracker than pumpkin or spice in this pleasant but ultimately underwhelming limited-edition snack.

25. Awesome Sauce

This limited-edition Goldfish flavor vaguely promises the taste of a fast food sauce: creamy, barbecue-y, a little spicy — you get the gist. It’s all right, but the flavor isn’t as full-bodied and immersive as you would hope. Ultimately, you could find better novelty flavors.

24. Strawberry Shortcake Grahams

We’re generally fans of Goldfish Grahams. They’re not your average Goldfish flavors, no, but if you evaluate them as a totally different category of snacks, they’re almost always satisfying. Most flavors are tasty and will satiate your appetite for a sweet snack without bringing on a cataclysmic sugar rush.

These are one of the weaker flavors, though. Artificial strawberry flavoring is hard to execute, and this isn’t the strongest execution out there: many have complained that Strawberry Shortcake Grahams taste more chemical than fruity. It’s not the most convincing imitation of the titular dessert.

23. Goldfish Mix: Xtra Cheddar + Pretzel

There are those who would dispute this ranking. In some ways, it’s very much like snack mixes that came before it: this Goldfish flavor is hardly the first to combine cheesy crackers and pretzels. See also: Chex Mix. But in the case of Goldfish, we’re not totally convinced that it works.

Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar Goldfish have an overpowering flavor. They’re either your thing or they’re not, but even if they are, they’re likely to make anything that they’re paired up with taste bland.

This is especially true of something like a pretzel with a milder flavor. Of all the flavors of Goldfish, they’re probably the least versatile. So while there’s nothing wrong with this combo, per se, neither flavor adds much to the mix.

22. Spicy Dill Pickle

We’ll give this limited-edition Goldfish flavor (which has been brought back by popular demand) credit for creativity and for amassing a fan base. That said, it’s still not that impressive: for a pickle flavor, it’s a little bland. You’ll get hints of what could be an excellent spicy pickle flavor, but never a fully-realized bite of greatness.

21. Colors

There are quite a few foods these days that we all associate with a single color, but which nowadays always seem to come in multicolor packs: carrots, potatoes, those red-and-green tortilla chips they serve at some Mexican restaurants.

Pepperidge Farm gets in on that action, too, with a Goldfish flavor that dares to ask, “Would more people buy Goldfish if we took regular Goldfish and dyed them?”

The answer is probably “no.” This multicolored rehash isn’t doing anything to enhance the already-stratospheric popularity of the Cheddar Goldfish it imitates. But it’s also imitating something incredibly tasty, so we don’t have much of a reason to fault it.

Not as original as it wants to seem, but still just the plain Goldfish flavor we love at the end of the day.

20. Sour Cream and Onion Crisps

As the list of Goldfish flavors continues to grow, Pepperidge Farm has to be ever more creative if it wants to keep putting out new products. One of their latest ventures is this new product line of hollow, chip-like Goldfish Crisps.

And although they’re actually pretty good, it’s a bit of a departure from what we consider to be a Goldfish flavor. Let’s get one thing straight: Goldfish Crisps are by no means unappetizing.

The texture is novel and delicious, and the sour cream and onion flavor powder is as good as any other brand’s. But it really strains the concept of a Goldfish cracker — in texture, in size, in marketing — and we’re going to need a little more convincing that these new kids on the block really belong.

19. Pretzel

Pretzels are decidedly their own snack, so the decision to turn them into a Goldfish flavor strikes us as a little baffling. Why reinvent the wheel in a fish shape? Because that’s the only difference between this Goldfish flavor and a regular old pretzel.

But it’s also not a bad pretzel snack. Is Goldfish going to be topping lists of the best pretzel brands soon? Probably not. But this Goldfish flavor is definitely worth a taste if you’re a pretzel aficionado.

18. Flavor Blasted Cheddar Jack’d

We’ll talk about this a little way down, but we have one very controversial Goldfish flavor take: the Flavor Blasted line isn’t our favorite.

Goldfish are amazing because they’re easy snacking: there’s nothing challenging or bracing about the mildly savory flavor of the classic fish, and we like it like that.

So the addition of searingly artificial flavor powder that comes with the Blasted line doesn’t do anything for our enjoyment of a Goldfish flavor. In the case of this specific flavor, it’s just a little too much. But if you love over-the-top, artificial cheese flavors, you’ll probably enjoy this one.

17. Cheddar Crisps

New Goldfish Crisps, same old story: although this more traditional flavor gets a slightly higher billing than its sour cream and onion counterpart, it’s still in almost exactly the same boat.

They’re great, but not quite what we picture when we’re craving a bag of Goldfish. You might enjoy these tasty cheese crackers as an alternative to chips, but if all you want is a bowl of good old Goldfish, this may not be your best pick.

16. Vanilla Cupcake Grahams

This Goldfish flavor seems like it really shouldn’t be good. Vanilla is the most perilous of flavors: super-subtle, prone to a chemical aftertaste, and totally lacking in anything to cut its sweetness. So these Goldfish Grahams could have been a big fumble. Surprisingly, they kind of slap.

Yes, they’re sweet, and some would probably argue they’re a little too sweet. But if you look at what they could’ve been, Vanilla Cupcake Grahams wind up looking like a smashing success. Not for everyone, but pretty pleasant.

15. Goldfish Grahams Cookies and Cream

It’s best to think of this Goldfish flavor as a deconstructed Oreo. You’ve got a chocolate Goldfish Graham for the cookie and a vanilla cracker for cream, and while you miss out on the texture contrast of the real thing, it’s a pretty convincing substitute.

It may not be the salty Goldfish flavor that you walk into the snack aisle hoping to find, but if you’re open-minded, Goldfish Grahams flavors like this one are usually pretty delicious.

14. Old Bay

If you’re not from the Atlantic or Southern USA, you might not even know what Old Bay is. If you are, and especially if you’re from Maryland, you’ll know that it’s an iconic local seasoning made of various spices like black and red pepper, celery salt and paprika.

In its homeland, Old Bay ends up on everything you could imagine. Now, it’s also ended up on Goldfish. And, to the delight of Marylanders everywhere, it works. Old Bay is flavorful and pungent, but it’s not necessarily spicy, so it adds great nuance and depth to the flavor of the Goldfish without being overpowering.

Goldfish don’t tend to be too heavily seasoned, and we prefer them when they’re not, but this is one seasoning that actually marries well with what’s already there. This is a newer flavor, but we can easily see it becoming a cult classic down the line.

13. Parmesan

The easiest tweak you can possibly make to a cheese cracker is to create a flavor based on a different type of cheese. That’s pretty much all there is to this Goldfish flavor, and we’re all for it.

Parmesan is an elite cheese, and we’ll die on that hill, so we have to be in full support of a Parmesan Goldfish flavor. If you’re a Parmesan fan like we are, it’s exactly as delicious as you’d expect.

12. Frank’s RedHot

We would’ve thought that hot sauce-flavored Goldfish would be a terrible flop, but since its release, this new Goldfish flavor has been a runaway hit. There’s not a lot out there for Goldfish fans who like their snacks a bit spicy, so the addition of a Frank’s RedHot Goldfish flavor diversifies the lineup immensely.

It’ll either be your thing or it won’t be, but those who enjoy any type of hot sauce tend to rave about these quirky newcomers to the Goldfish scene.

11. Original

If you’re shocked that the familiar orange Cheddar-flavored Goldfish aren’t the original flavor, you’re not alone. Very few people think about this nondescript white cracker when they think of Goldfish, and that’s somewhat of a knock against it. It may just be too dull, too blank a canvas for many snackers.

But that’s certainly not universal. While Original Goldfish are less overtly flavorful than some of their flashier cousins, they deliver a nice, mild Goldfish flavor with great versatility and great snackability alike. Probably not anyone’s go-to choice, but a good idea even so.

10. Goldfish Grahams S’mores

This Goldfish flavor has a lot in common with Cookies and Cream, save for the addition of tiny fish-shaped marshmallow pieces for, y’know, the s’mores vibe. It’s a good addition, and this is a good flavor. Although there’s one Goldfish Grahams flavor higher up the list than this one, it’s virtually a tie.

9. Goldfish Grahams Fudge Brownie

There’s nothing particularly brownie-like about this Goldfish flavor, save for the obvious chocolatiness. Does that matter? Not in the slightest.

Brownie, it may not be, but what this flavor is is a chocolate cookie masquerading as a cracker that it’s totally acceptable to eat as a casual snack. What we’re getting at is simple: these are delicious.

If you like chocolate and you keep your mind open, you’ll likely find that Fudge Brownie Goldfish Grahams are as snackable as any savory Goldfish flavor, just in a very different direction.

The only drawback? These can be a little tricky to find as they’re a limited edition variety. Yet, some retailers and specialty snack shops may still stock them.

8. Goldfish Mix Cheesy Pizza + Parmesan

If you’re the type who enjoys sprinkling those packets of powdered Parmesan on your pizza slice…boy, do we have a Goldfish flavor for you. We’re willing to bet that’s exactly what the Goldfish development team had in mind when they came up with this Cheesy Pizza + Parmesan mix, and it was inspired. One of the better Goldfish Mixes by miles.

7. Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar

Sigh. This might be the Goldfish flavor we would personally be least excited to see on the snack table at a party, but a huge chunk of the Goldfish-eating public has exactly the opposite opinion.

Our distaste for Xtra Cheddar Goldfish stems from the weirdly artificial tang of the cheddar seasoning, but that’s precisely what many people love about it. If you like a snack with a bolder flavor, you might very well adore these.

They’re much less subtle than the classic Goldfish, which some people actively want in a Goldfish flavor. But if you don’t tend to love an excess of flavor powdering, leave ‘em on the table for the rest of the guests to enjoy.

6. Goldfish Mix: Cheddar + Zesty Cheddar + Parmesan

This, on the other hand, is a much more palatable way to enjoy Flavor Blasted Goldfish. The milder cheddar and parmesan Goldfish flavors provide balance, somewhat neutralizing the Flavor Blasted powder effect.

Even if you’re typically a fan of that more intense flavor, you’ll likely find that the nuance this mixture creates enhances the snacking experience. Way too many Goldfish Mix flavors use Flavor Blasted Goldfish flavors, but this one finds a better balance than most.

5. Baby Cheddar

Baby Cheddar Goldfish are like Mini M&Ms: nobody can explain why they’re better in miniature form, but they indisputably are.

There’s something so satisfying about popping a handful of half-sized Goldfish crackers into your mouth, and it doesn’t really matter that they’re just the Cheddar flavor rehashed — the novelty is enough to ensure them an excellent ranking on this list.

Although they’re not as common in stores, it’s worth a little extra effort to seek out this excellent snack to leave out for guests who graze. The joy of eating a bunch of really tiny stuff instead of a few of the normal-sized versions is enough to justify the work.

4. Cheddar Baked With Whole Grain

Our good buddy Baked With Whole Grain does not have the best reputation. Even a cursory Google search or a conversation with an informed friend is likely to quickly reveal that not a whole lot of people like these supposedly healthier Goldfish flavors.

But when you look at all Goldfish flavors, every outlandish thing they’ve attempted to be over the years…what on earth is so wrong with whole grain?

With less saturated fat, a little fiber and no artificial colors or flavors, Whole Grain Goldfish offers most of what you like about the original Cheddar crackers with a better nutritional profile. While they aren't the healthiest crackers, they're healthier than most types of Goldfish crackers.

Sure, they’re a little less light and crunchy, but they’re serviceable. They're also a decent, healthy snack for kids who are reluctant to get their grains in any other form. So why all the hate? We’ll truly never understand.

3. Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheesy Pizza

We’ve made our feelings on Flavor Blasted Goldfish flavors clear, but we also know that we’re writing this list for you, good people of the internet. So we have to listen to the voice of the people on this one: if you’ve ever felt like Pizza Goldfish were lacking, this is the Goldfish flavor you need to buy.

We will begrudgingly admit that true pizza aficionados will be thrilled with what’s in this bag of Goldfish. Xtra Cheesy Pizza is everything you love about the regular Pizza Goldfish flavor dialed up to 11, thanks to the intense amount of pizza-flavored powder.

If you love Flavor Blasted Goldfish, make this your first pick. There’s more nuance to it than Xtra Cheesy, too…if we have to find something we can appreciate. Under the duress of public opinion, we can admit that Flavor Blasted always wins in the end.

2. Pizza

It shouldn’t be possible to pack all the constituent flavors of a good pizza into a cracker: cheese, sure, but what about tomato, that crunchy crust or the various herbs and spices that make tomato sauce pop? It just doesn’t seem likely. That’s what makes this Goldfish flavor so improbably good.

Sure, you’ll be missing the textures and toppings that most of us look forward to when we order pizza, but the necessary flavors are somehow all there. You’ll swear you can taste a little tomato, a bit of herbiness — cheese goes without saying. It’s an impressive imitation of a flavor we almost all love.

That alone was nearly enough for first place, but there was one unbeatable rival standing in Pizza’s way…

1. Cheddar

These may not be the original Goldfish flavor (as you may just have been shocked to learn), but they’re still the ones most frequently associated with the brand. “Goldfish,” to many people, simply means “Cheddar Goldfish,” to the point that the idea of a multiverse of Goldfish flavors that look and taste nothing like these is almost puzzling.

What do you mean the classic orange Goldfish isn’t the only kind? And the hype is totally warranted.

No, they’re not the most exciting snack in the aisle. They’re not spicy or sweet or a novel combination of flavors. They’ve been parodied and imitated until they’re almost a whole genre of snacks, some of which are markedly less successful than others.

But does it reign absolutely supreme among the best gas station snacks, the best grocery store snacks, and the best snacks in general? You bet it does.

The humble Cheddar Goldfish, mild-mannered and unassuming, is a portal to a simpler time. You can’t help but place it close to the top.

How Many Goldfish Flavors Are There?

At the moment, there are around 30 different Goldfish flavors, at least officially. If you add up all the Goldfish flavors in the Classic, Crisps, Grahams, Flavor Blasted, Goldfish Mix and Megabites lines, you’ll get a grand total of between 30 and 35 Goldfish snacks. Of those Goldfish flavors, about 11 are currently limited or special-edition; you may have noticed a few mentions of those above.

That said, Pepperidge Farm likes to mix things up, and new limited-edition or seasonal Goldfish products are often released. Even so-called permanent flavors are frequently discontinued. Some of those discontinued flavors can still be found and ordered online if a retailer has stock left over from before the flavor was discontinued.

We’re all grown-ups until the Goldfish come out. The Snack That Smiles Back can transport us back to our younger days with a single taste, so many of us are extremely attached to the Goldfish flavors we grew up eating.

But there’s more to explore these days, so why not pick up a new take on an old favorite? After all, you can always fall back on Flavor Blasted Xtra Cheddar if it doesn’t work out.
