The 23 Best Dips at Trader Joe’s Ranked

23. Chunky Guacamole

Taking last place in our look at Trader Joe's dips ranked, Chunky Guacamole tends to split opinions. However, we have to say that we steered more towards the positive.

We loved the creamy texture and lightness produced by adding Greek yogurt. That gives this dip 50% less fat and 40% fewer calories than standard guacamole. Admittedly, the Greek yogurt does give this Guacamole a tang that not everyone will be on board with.

But if you’re seeking a guacamole with something extra, this one fits the bill nicely. It’s also a good choice of healthy snacks for kids when paired with vegetables and whole-grain crackers. As a bonus, Greek yogurt is a source of protein and calcium and contributes to good gut health.

22. Creamy Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Not all Trader Joe’s dips here are made to be served cold. In fact, this next addition is specifically designed to be heated. Made with a mix of spinach, artichoke and Swiss and Parmesan cheeses, heating this dip creates a satisfyingly gooey and oozy experience that reminds us of a fondue.

Like fondue, this dip can be scooped up using vegetables, crackers or thinly sliced bread. Whether you’re searching for an appetizer for your next dinner party or a sharing dish you can put out while the game’s on, this Trader Joe’s dip fits the bill.

21. Almond Chipotle Dip

We have to admit that we weren’t expecting to like this pick of Trader Joe’s dips as much as we did. The main component is almond butter, which adds a creaminess you might not expect, with a mix of herbs and gentle spice.

This dip is completely vegan, so it works well as a non-dairy topping for baked potatoes, nachos or roasted tofu. You could also add wholegrain crackers and top with a thin slice of apple for an easy, healthy snack that's full of flavor.

20. Pico de Gallo Salsa

Make your next Taco Tuesday into a Taco Tues-yay with this selection of Trader Joe’s dips. Made from a classic collection of ingredients, including diced tomatoes and onions, cilantro, jalapeños and lemon juice, Trader Joe’s Pico de Gallo Salsa has a fresh flavor and mild heat.

You can pair this salsa with tortilla chips for an effortless party food idea, but it’s also an excellent addition to other recipes. From omelettes and scrambled eggs to tofu, fish and, of course, Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes like fajitas and burritos, we think this pick of Trader Joe’s dips might just become your go-to condiment.

19. Zhoug Sauce

Originally from the Middle East, zhoug (pronounced ‘zoog’) has been likened to an Italian pesto made with cilantro instead of basil. It also includes jalapeño, chile, garlic, cardamom and cumin seeds, which add a smoky, spicy heat.

Although technically one of Trader Joe’s dips, Zhoug Sauce offers a simple way to add extra flavor to meat and fish dishes. It’s also vegan, so it makes a brilliant accompaniment to plant-based meals and snack platters.

18. Guacasalsa

What happens when salsa meets guacamole? One of the most iconic Trader Joe’s dips was born and nachos will never be the same again. Whether you’re looking for tailgate food ideas or you just want to curl up with something delicious, this is easily one of the best Trader Joe’s dips.

We love it with tortilla chips but we certainly wouldn’t overlook this dip’s potential to make tasty burritos and tacos. We also found that a scoop pairs very nicely with bacon.

17. Extra Hot Habanero Ghost Pepper Salsa

Not for the faint-hearted, this choice of Trader Joe’s dips is hot with a capital H. Along with habanero pepper, it contains a small amount of smoked ghost chile pepper, one of the spiciest chile peppers in existence, along with onion, cilantro and vine-ripened tomatoes. It's rounded out with fire-roasted red bell and poblano peppers

This recipe guarantees a good level of spice but makes sure that the heat doesn’t overwhelm the other flavors. If you want to tone down the heat here, we suggest adding a spoonful of one of the many Trader Joe’s dips with a sour cream base, or TJ's White Queso (coming up later in our list).

For those who do like things spicy, this salsa might just be your new favorite. It’s good with chips as well as burritos, sandwiches and even avocado on toast.

16. Spinach and Kale Greek Yogurt Dip

Ideal for anyone seeking flavorful Trader Joe’s dips that can be easily incorporated into a healthy eating plan, this dip contains 75% less fat than a similar dip made with sour cream. In fact, each two-tablespoon serving contains just 2 grams of fat and 30 calories.

The only downside is that it can separate when left in the fridge, but a quick stir should bring it straight back together. If you’re after healthy kids' snacks, this dip could be a lifesaver.

It’s full of vegetables, including spinach, kale, carrots and chopped water chestnuts and can be easily added to crackers and sandwiches or paired with vegetable crudités. This one is a bit of an opinion divider, though, hence its middle ranking in our list.

15. Crunchy Chili Onion Hummus

Combining heat and sesame nuttiness, this Trader Joe’s dip features smooth hummus topped with crunchy chiles and onions. This gives the base hummus a kick of garlic, onion, smoky heat and fiery chile, which spice lovers will appreciate, although it may not suit everyone.

We love the fact that the chile pepper is added on top rather than mixed in, so every scoop provides a unique combination of flavor. Ideal for falafel wraps and veggie burgers, this Trader Joe’s dip is also excellent with tortilla chips or pita.

14. Pepita Salsa

Lightly aromatic, nutty pumpkin seeds, known as pepitas, meet classic salsa for a match made in foodie heaven. Trader Joe’s has something of a reputation for a love of pumpkin, but this salsa takes it to the next level. It uses a typical tomato base with a hint of heat from chipotle and puréed bell pepper.

The pepitas not only make the flavor of this salsa distinctive and, to our mind, delicious. They also give the salsa a thicker texture, making it more like a sauce that can be used with chips and tacos or on the side of any dish requiring a burst of tomato brightness.

13. Garlic Spread Dip

Based on a Middle Eastern recipe called toum, our next addition to the top Trader Joe’s dips has a serious kick of garlic. In texture, this dip is more like a mayonnaise or aioli, which makes it ideal for using as a classic accompaniment to fries or wedges as well as a spread to add extra depth to burgers.

Trader Joe’s Garlic Spread Dip is made from a simple combination of fresh garlic cloves, canola oil, salt and lemon juice blended together to create a creamy emulsion. We love the intense flavor here, but would recommend that you have a pack of mints handy if you’re heading out after eating.

12. Chocolate Hummus Dip

The next item on our list of Trader Joe’s dips may be a little out of left field, and won’t be for everyone, but we love it. It’s made from the same chickpea, tahini and sea salt base as standard hummus but also includes cane sugar and cocoa. This results in a slightly sweet spread with a hint of sesame.

This most distinctive of Trader Joe’s dips pairs well with apple slices and banana chips. The sweet cocoa also goes well with salty pretzel sticks. We’ve even considered using cookies instead of tortilla chips to scoop this one up.

11. Roasted Garlic Hummus Dip

When it comes to Trader Joe’s dips, you’ll notice that we weren’t able to narrow down our choice of hummus to just one variety, but the Roasted Garlic edition was the highest scoring. A Trader Joe’s classic, this hummus has been a mainstay of Trader Joe’s dips for more than 20 years.

Pair with toasted pita, sliced vegetables, or pretty much any savory Trader Joe's snacks, and you’ve got a sensational light bite for all occasions.

10. Garlic and Asiago Cheese Dip

A standout among Trader Joe’s dips, this cheesy and garlicky limited edition delight is designed to be served warm. Requiring only a few minutes in the microwave, the dip’s combo of cream cheese, mozzarella and nutty Asiago cheese becomes a gooey, melty and eminently dippable sauce.

It has to be said that this dip is very rich, but we found that adding celery, strips of bell pepper and cherry tomatoes were good dipping options to cut through the richness. Like fondue, we love the sharing element here and think serving this dip would make an amazing finger food idea for your next event.

9. Everything and the Elote Dip

Combining smokiness and a touch of heat, this Trader Joe’s dip has become something of a legend on social media. Featuring garlic, Parmesan, chipotle pepper and corn kernels, this dip has a complex flavor profile that goes from umami to sweet and spicy in each mouthful.

Like many Trader Joe’s dips, Everything and the Elote pairs well with, well, everything. We’re not just talking about using it for dipping either. The smoky, spicy spread makes a great addition to sandwiches, wraps, and even as an accompaniment to breakfast dishes.

8. Pimento Cheese Dip

Featuring the ‘caviar of the South,’ Pimento Cheese Dip is a popular option among the vast catalog of Trader Joe’s dips. It’s based on classic pimento cheese — a mix of shredded cheddar, chopped pimento pepper and mayonnaise, but adds a luxurious Neufchâtel cheese to the mix.

The thick texture of this dip makes for easy scooping, but Trader Joe’s themselves recommends adding a thin layer on top of a grilled cheese sandwich. Hey presto, you’ve got cheese by cheese squared and a new sandwich sensation.

7. Caesar Salad Dip

Using scientific methods known only to themselves, Trader Joe’s has managed to turn a classic Caesar salad into a dip with exactly the same flavor profile. The base is a Caesar seasoned sour cream (easy for us to say) which is mixed with mayonnaise, anchovy paste and Parmesan cheese. Finely shredded romaine lettuce is also added to bring the green salad element.

This top choice among Trader Joe’s dips is super with crackers or crudités and makes an incredibly simple appetizer. It’s also ideal to layer on crostini for a simple sharing dish or to pair with chips, especially if you’re looking for snacks to leave out for guests who graze

6. Green Goddess Dip

Fantastic when you’re entertaining, this crowd-pleasing Trader Joe’s dip has been a popular addition to the shelves for several years. Drawing inspiration from the eponymous salad dressing, the Green Goddess Dip is made from sour cream, mayonnaise and avocado, overlaid with garlic and herbs.

You can make the Green Goddess Dip a vehicle for your favorite snacking medium, from chips to celery sticks, or use it as a sandwich spread or wrap ingredient if you want to add another layer of flavor to lunch.

5. White Queso Dip

We’ve got the salsa, the guacamole and even the Guacasalsa covered so far on our list of the top Trader Joe’s dips, but we were missing queso. Luckily, our next alternative among Trader Joe’s dips is here to save your next nacho night.

TJ’s White Queso Dip is made with a base of lots of white cheddar (50% of the ingredients, in fact) to which cream is added to make it extra indulgent. It also features red and green pepper, sea salt and onion and a hint of heat from sliced jalapeños.

4. Corn and Chile Tomato-less Salsa

If you’re not a fan of tomatoes in traditional salsa, or you suffer from a nightshade allergy, this tomato-less version is a salsa savior. Instead of tomatoes, this innovative selection of Trader Joe’s dips uses corn (over a whole ear in each jar) alongside jalapeños, onion, coriander, mustard seed and a dash of sugar to create a salsa that’s chunky and piquant.

It’s also one of the healthiest snacks at Trader Joe's, with only 40 calories and no fat per two-tablespoon serving. Of course, we tried this with tortilla chips and were suitably impressed.

Other reviewers also suggest that it’s a brilliant topping for rice. A bit of a cult item among Trader Joe’s dips, you’ll find this one in the condiments aisle.

3. Buffalo Dip

Perfect if you’re looking for Super Bowl appetizers or sides for a summer BBQ, this is one of the nation’s favorite Trader Joe’s dips and combines all of the elements of a plate of Buffalo wings into one easy-to-scoop recipe.

This includes bite-sized chunks of chicken breast in a creamy sauce, plus cayenne pepper, warm garlic and sharp vinegar. A combination of sour cream, cream cheese and shredded Monterey Jack adds richness and makes a thick texture that’s easy to scoop. There’s also a vegan version of this dip for those avoiding dairy.

2. Vegan Tzatziki Dip

There are a number of vegan Trader Joe’s dips, but this one has to be one of the very best. It has a classic tzatziki profile but uses dairy-free cream cheese in place of yogurt, so it is completely vegan.

The signature tzatziki tartness is delivered here by lemon juice, finely chopped cucumber, dill and garlic. Vegan Tzatziki can be used as both a dip and a sauce for drizzling and works great when making mezze platters for a Greek food feast!

1. Chicken Uncured Bacon Ranch Dip

A timeless combination of flavors, chicken, bacon and Ranch dressing are given a new lease of life to create the number one pick on our list of the most popular Trader Joe’s dips.

The base is made from a mix of sour cream, shredded cheddar, cream cheese, buttermilk and mayonnaise to which chunky pieces of rotisserie-style roast chicken breast and uncured bacon are added. Finally, a seasoning mix of dill, chives, parsley, onion and garlic is sprinkled over the top.

Like many other Trader Joe’s dips listed here, this one is absolutely strong enough to work as a sandwich filling, but can also be heated and used as a classic dip for potato wedges, chips, crackers or thinly sliced toasted bread.

What Is the Best Dip at Trader Joe’s?

As our list of the top Trader Joe’s dips draws to a close, you might be wondering which one stands out as the absolute best? Our preference is the Chicken Uncured Bacon Ranch, but your dip decision is up to you!

If you love spicy heat, Extra Hot Habanero Ghost Pepper Salsa will be a top option among Trader Joe’s dips. If creamy, aromatic flavors are more your thing, then the Green Goddess Dip or one of many varieties of hummus should be your first choice when you head to Trader Joe’s.

Vegans can also find a few unique picks other than classic plant-based options like hummus and salsa that may become their new favorite Trader Joe's dip. Vegan Tzatziki, Zhoug Sauce and Almond Chipotle Dip are notable top choices for plant-based eaters.

Best of all, as Trader Joe's is one of the cheapest grocery stores in the U.S., you can try a few, or all, of the dips on this list to find your perfect match without breaking the bank.
