16 Best Pocky Flavors Ranked in 2025

Published on August 11, 2025 | 0 Comments
There are many Pocky flavors to try

Every Pocky flavor is the product of one simple but astute observation about the snack world: that there aren’t nearly enough crunchy desserts. On the savory side, customers have no end of crackers, chips and pretzels to choose from, but where do we turn when we’re craving something sweet?

We like to imagine that’s what Japanese snack giant Glico was thinking when it released the first Pocky snacks in 1966. Whether that was the idea or not, though, Pocky fills that crunchy-dessert niche, and we’re glad it does.

But picking the best Pocky flavors is another matter entirely. Since they all have the same plain biscuit base, it’s tempting to think that all Pocky flavors are created equal. Not so.

From the somewhat lackluster to the revelatory, we’ve ranked the 16 best Pocky flavors, so next time you find yourself poring over Pocky stick flavors in the snack aisle, you’ll know exactly which ones to grab.

How We Ranked These Pocky Flavors

The team at Cozymeal is dedicated to making sure you find the information you need, no matter what culinary topic you’re interested in. Whether that’s expert cooking advice, restaurant round-ups, or product guides like this helpful ranking of Pocky flavors, it’s what our editorial team does best.

In order to assemble this ranked Pocky flavors list, we’ve been digging into the world of Pocky fandom. That research has enabled us to take the pulse of the Pocky-buying side of the Internet, get an idea of the fan consensus on this topic, and observe trends in Pocky popularity.

By analyzing flavor profiles, taste-test reviews and personal testimonies from online sources and our own team members, we’ve gotten a read on how fans are feeling about every flavor of Pocky.

The following criteria also guided our evaluation:

  • Popularity of the Flavor: Are fans loving this, or is it always the last flavor left on the supermarket shelf?
  • Accessibility: Can you get this flavor in stores in the U.S., or will you have to go looking for it online?
  • Execution of the Flavor: Does it taste the way you think it should?

Since all Pocky flavors are inherently more biscuit than flavor coating, these differences can seem negligible. But the flavor of the coated section really does change the game, and fans will be quick to tell you so.

While mileage will always vary, we’ve made sure to rank Pocky flavors in such a way that most Pocky enthusiasts online will trend in the direction of this list.

The 16 Best Pocky Sticks Flavors Ranked

16. Banana

Banana is one of those flavors that we’ll never really understand. It’s incredibly hard to create an artificial banana flavor that tastes anything like the real thing, so why would you take the risk of attempting it?

And while a large part of this is our deep-seated personal aversion to banana-flavored snacks, it’s widely agreed-upon that this was a rare misfire in the Pocky flavor lineup. It’s also the only flavor on this list that we’ll actively not recommend.

There are probably people out there who adore bananas and will subsequently love these. But for most, the clinging artificial banana taste is more unpleasant than it’s worth.

It’s a little strange to us that this is one of the few flavors that Glico decided to sell in the U.S. market; as we’ll see, there are many more delicious options.

15. Matcha

As evidenced by its growing popularity and its presence in just about every coffee shop, matcha is a great flavor. Its earthy, almost herbal taste is unlike anything that existed in the U.S. before it became mainstream, and it’s used to great effect in desserts and drinks all over the place.

We’ll also give it points for livening up the “green dessert flavors” scene: no longer are we stuck with just mint, lime or green apple. That said, this Pocky flavor doesn’t execute the matcha dip as well as it could. Matcha purists, whose main encounters with the flavor come in the form of plain green tea, will find it too sweet.

Sweets enthusiasts will likely notice a slight graininess in the creamy dipped coating that might bother some. And while it does capture the pleasant herby flavor of matcha to some extent, Matcha Pocky isn't the smash-hit that it could be. While this Pocky flavor still has its fans, it isn’t one of the best options.

14. Cookies and Cream

From the start, cookies and cream as a coating for Pocky was an idea that defied the laws of physics. A true cookies and cream flavor needs hefty chunks of cookie to work, and that isn’t really possible when you’re trying to coat a thin stick of biscuit with it.

So what you end up with in this Pocky flavor is unsatisfyingly small crumbs of chocolate biscuit in a super-sweet vanilla coating. Don’t get us wrong, this Pocky flavor still tastes good. But with its unbalanced ratio of cookies to cream and its uber-sweet coating, Cookies and Cream Pocky doesn’t quite live up to the deliciousness of the best Oreo-inspired snacks.

This Pocky flavor might actually have gotten a higher score with us if it were marketed as, say, “vanilla and chocolate” or something, rather than Cookies and Cream — using that name sets up expectations that this box of Pocky just doesn’t meet.

13. Double Berry

“Mixed berry” is a flavor we dread ranking here at Cozymeal, because it doesn’t even tell us what it’s supposed to taste like. Mixed berry? What berry? How can we evaluate whether you taste like the real thing when you don’t tell us what that is? And that is exactly the trap that this Pocky flavor falls into.

Sure, this Hong Kong-exclusive Pocky flavor is pretty tasty. It’s satisfyingly sweet and tart in the way that most fruity Pocky flavors (save Banana) tend to be. But whichever berries were meant to be here, the taste gets so muddled up that you just end up with a pleasant but generic fruity cream that fails to make a real statement. It’s good, but probably not worth the shipping fees unless you’re placing a bulk order.

12. Mango

This Thailand-exclusive Pocky flavor sounds a little bizarre. Somehow, it’s hard to imagine artificial fruit flavors working well as a Pocky flavor, and in some cases (cough Banana cough), that’s true. But this attempt is a lot of fun, and if you’re willing to engage in some light suspension of disbelief, you’ll probably find much to like here.

Although it doesn’t perfectly replicate the taste of ripe mango, this Pocky flavor is as good as any mango imitation on the market. If you’re not a fruit person, steer clear.

But if mango is your favorite flavor of Hi-Chew candy, you’ll likely feel similarly about this Pocky flavor. An essential Thai souvenir, but also a great novelty flavor to order online, should you ever feel like it.

11. Choco Mint

If you spend any time at all on TikTok, you’ve likely encountered a viral video of a Japanese girl band in which the three band members ask each other, call-and-response style, about their favorite dessert flavors. “Choco-mint,” the first member declares, “but I like you more.”

It’s been shared and spoofed ad nauseum, to the point that almost everybody on earth now seems to know that “choko-minto” is Ruby-chan’s favorite flavor. And while Choco Mint is a good Pocky flavor, not everybody loves it as much as she does.

With a huge number of Pocky flavors on the market, it’s an honor to make this list at all, so you know Choco Mint can’t be a bad flavor. But it’s still a little bit underwhelming.

While the combination of crisp chocolate biscuit and subtle mint coating is tasty, it’s a bit more subtle than many fans would like. Plus, if you don’t already love mint, this won’t be your favorite. That said, this Pocky flavor is a favorite among mint fans.

10. Double Rich Matcha

Unlike Matcha, which sees the regular cookie stick dipped in matcha coating, this version features a matcha cookie base, plus matcha dip. Not only does the use of a matcha-flavored biscuit beef up the flavor of this option, but the dip uses two different kinds of matcha for a smoother and richer finish.

It’s also not nearly as sweet as plain old Matcha Pocky, which will be a relief to those matcha purists who recoiled at the sugar in the regular version.

The flip side of this, of course, is that American buyers who aren’t quite used to the subtler Japanese version might not find it sweet enough. It helps to remember that traditional Japanese sweets don’t typically use sugar as a sweetener.

But if you’ve ever tried Matcha Pocky and found yourself craving a Pocky flavor with a more nuanced taste, this is the one.

9. Strawberry

Your tolerance for artificial fruit flavors may impact your enjoyment of this Pocky flavor. But despite the obvious fact that this strawberry flavor isn’t quite like the real thing, Strawberry Pocky is a fan favorite.

The slight tartness of the strawberry dip keeps them from tasting overwhelmingly sugary, which is always a must with artificial fruit flavors. Treat this Pocky flavor as a completely separate entity from anything flavored with real strawberry, and you’ll enjoy them a lot more.

8. Ultra Slim Chocolate

Chocolate is the original and ultimate Pocky flavor, so it’s easy to question the wisdom of making anything that amounts to a revamp of the all-time classic. And it’s certainly true that Ultra Slim Chocolate Pocky doesn’t add all that much to the Pocky world.

But at the same time, they don’t take anything away from it, so you’ll still get everything you love about Chocolate Pocky in this package. Plus, they’re widely available in the U.S., which we can’t say for many of the Pocky flavors to come.

Ultimately, while Ultra Slim Chocolate adds almost nothing to the mix, it’s still delicious enough to warrant our recommendation.

7. Double Chocolate

If you’re ordering a shipment of Pocky, make sure that this twist on the classic chocolate Pocky flavor makes it into your cart. While it isn’t available in the U.S., you can order this Pocky flavor online, and it’s absolutely worth the price of shipping. The same chocolate coating you already love, now with a chocolate biscuit base? Sign us up.

Double Chocolate Pocky is the turning point of this Pocky flavors list: while none of the previous flavors have really been bad (despite our not-so-fond feelings about Banana), this is where we get into the truly delicious stuff.

Nothing from here on out is super polarizing or shakily executed. In fact, this flavor only ranks around mid-list due to its absence from U.S. stores. This Pocky flavor is a chocolate enthusiast’s dream — anyone want to start a petition to get these on the market abroad?

6. Almond Crush

It’s easy to think of Pocky as a schoolkid snack, something fun to grab for a road trip or a Netflix binge, but ultimately not very sophisticated. Enter Almond Crush, a Pocky flavor designed to change that.

Chunky almonds and chocolate dip elevate this Pocky flavor far above the usual Pocky fare, and of the flavors that are sold widely in the U.S., they’re definitely the most subtle and unique. Almond Crunch is the lovechild of Pocky and biscotti, and the internet is obsessed.

5. Tasty

The most vaguely-named of Pocky flavors, but delicious all the same. It’s hard to tell what “Tasty” means, but further examination reveals that these have a caramel-inspired biscuit and a chocolate coating.

Instead of the usual vanilla biscuit, Tasty uses a pretzel dough with a caramelized sugar coating — yum, right? Combine that with the creamy milk chocolate dip that we already know and love, and you have a winning recipe.

Like many of the best Pocky flavors on this list, Tasty is only available to overseas consumers via online specialty retailers. That said, it’s delicious and unique enough that it warrants a high ranking despite the difficulty of obtaining it.

You may be getting tired of hearing that something is worth the shipping fees, but it’s especially true in the case of Tasty Pocky.

4. Coconut

Like almonds (see above), coconut isn’t always the most popular dessert flavor: some are allergic, and others simply coconut-averse. But if you can stomach the stuff, give this Pocky flavor a shot.

While coconut candy in the U.S. is often off-puttingly sweet, Coconut Pocky uses unsweetened coconut flakes to add texture but not necessarily sweetness. Don’t worry: when it comes to sugar, the chocolate coating covers that base.

Adding contrasting textures to Pocky is almost always a fantastic idea, and, like Almond Crush, this Pocky flavor is another sophisticated choice. Though this is mainly an international flavor, it’s readily available online.

3. Crunchy Strawberry

A prime example of the “adding contrasting textures” rule of Pocky flavor composition, now with a fruity finish that works far better here than it does on the plain Strawberry Pocky flavor.

A bittersweet chocolate biscuit helps to balance out the sweetness of the strawberry, keeping its artificial taste in check, and we all know that chocolate and strawberry are a top 10 food combination, so there was really no messing this one up. If you’re only going to try one fruity Pocky flavor, make it this one.

2. Winter Melty

With a seasonal release and a primarily Japanese sales market, Winter Melty is an absolute unicorn in the world of Pocky flavors. If you can find it, though, you’re one very lucky Pocky fan, because there are few flavors this stellar anywhere in the world.

A creamier chocolate coating and a layer of cocoa powder elevate what looks like a plain Chocolate Pocky to unprecedented new heights — the best comparison is a dark chocolate truffle, but you’ll probably get some hot cocoa vibes, too.

“Melty” really is an excellent description. If you can get your hands on a box of Winter Melty Pocky, they’re an experience to savor.

1. Chocolate

You knew it was coming, didn’t you? This is the Pocky flavor that started it all, and it’s stood the test of time. We wouldn’t be here, ranking Pocky flavors, if the simple combination of creamy chocolate dip and crunchy biscuit weren’t so mind-blowingly good.

And even after graciously opening the door for all those other Pocky flavors to come, it remains the most delicious of them all.

Widely available and crowd-pleasing, this is pretty much the only Pocky flavor that could reasonably be counted among the best gas station snacks. Pretty impressive for what was once an obscure Japanese treat, isn’t it? There’s really no downside to this, the best of all Pocky flavors.

How Many Flavors of Pocky Are There?

If you’re trying to count every Pocky flavor, it helps to think of them like Kit-Kats: while there is a pretty good variety on sale here in the States, you have to count internationally available flavors if you really want to include them all.

Also like Kit-Kats, Pocky is a wildly popular snack in Japan, where they come in flavors the American market could hardly imagine. So while the count will vary and changes constantly with the changing seasons and new releases, the upper limit is around 90!

Although this count includes flavors that might not be available at the moment, or ever available if you’re outside of Japan, it is most likely the fullest count of the Pocky flavors that are currently being manufactured.

Just keep in mind that your local selection might be smaller. In fact, when we searched for flavors being sold in a few major U.S. cities (with excellent access to Asian grocery stores) on the Pocky website’s Find Pocky section, we only got seven unique flavors (albeit with size variations). Go figure.

The good news is that we live in the era of global shipping, so if you see an international Pocky flavor that intrigues you, you can probably order it online.

Since their introduction to the U.S. market in 2003, Pocky — in all its flavors — has absolutely stormed the snack market. A cult favorite now found everywhere from airport newsstands to supermarkets, the unique appeal of Pocky is becoming more widely acknowledged.

But not every Pocky flavor lives up to the greatness of the original, so while we encourage you to try every flavor that catches your eye, the people have spoken: these are the absolute best Pocky flavors on the market.
