Does Taco Bell Have Breakfast?

Yes and no. Taco Bell launched breakfast offerings nationwide in 2014, having served a few breakfast dishes at some locations before that. However, in 2024, the fast food Mexican restaurant chain decided to allow franchised locations to opt out of serving Taco Bell breakfast altogether.

This was difficult news to swallow for fans of the morning menu, especially those who had grown used to the convenience and downright deliciousness of their favorite Taco Bell breakfast items. But this decision didn’t eradicate the breakfast menu altogether.

In fact, you can still order Taco Bell breakfast at some locations, so the answer to this question really depends on where you live. To find out whether or not Taco Bell breakfast meals are available in your area, use the Taco Bell breakfast finder.

While it’s not guaranteed that you’ll find a restaurant serving breakfast near you, at least you have a reliable place to check.

How We Choose the Best Taco Bell Breakfast Items

In order to determine the best Taco Bell breakfast orders, we first took a deep dive into the official menu, determining which items are currently available at locations that still serve breakfast.

Armed with that information, we then took to the wider web, combing it for Taco Bell breakfast ratings across platforms like Reddit and other social channels, and reading reviews by discerning food writers.

Finally, we considered our own experience ordering from the Taco Bell breakfast menu. With all of this information to hand, we were able to produce a rounded rundown of the items we feel are likely — and unlikely — to offer the widest appeal to early-morning epicureans like you.

The 15 Best Taco Bell Breakfast Orders Ranked

15. Hash Browns

If the availability of hash browns is a deal breaker for you, then you’ll be reassured to hear that the Taco Bell breakfast menu does at least offer them. However, many find that the hash browns served here aren’t the best on the market.

Having said that, there are lots of diners who think that Taco Bell’s hash browns are consistently more crunchy than those of rival chains, so we guess their ranking is really a matter of personal preference. Unfortunately, we find them a little middle-of-the-road, making this our least-recommended item on the Taco Bell breakfast menu.

14. Breakfast Quesadilla With Steak

If you’re perusing the menu in search of a high-protein breakfast, then the Breakfast Quesadilla with Steak is one of a few good choices to go for. Featuring 28 grams of protein per order and a delicious filling of melty cheese, scrambled eggs and thin slices of steak, it’s sure to keep you going until lunch.

However, certain fillings just don’t stand up well to the toasting iron that’s used to make this particular Taco Bell breakfast. Those include steak, which, in this case, tends to come out dry and rather lacking luster, hence this dish’s 14th-place spot.

13. Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito With Potato

Despite its lower ranking, the Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito with Potato is one of the healthiest items at Taco Bell. We just didn’t find it to be one of the tastiest.

Sure, it’s one of the best vegetarian fast food breakfast options at Taco Bell, featuring a balanced mix of potatoes, tomatoes, eggs and melty nacho cheese. But, while these are all staple ingredients in other, more satisfying Taco Bell breakfast orders, we feel that this order is lacking in the kind of flavor that other, meatier options offer.

We’ve read suggestions that the addition of something as simple as beans could elevate this burrito from basic to brilliant, and we’re inclined to agree.

12. Breakfast Quesadilla With Bacon

We touched on this earlier, and we’ll say it again. Certain ingredients simply don’t stand up to the rigors of Taco Bell’s toasting machines. When you order a Taco Bell Breakfast Quesadilla with Bacon, you get the melty cheese and delicious toasted tortilla that you signed up for. But the bacon tends to come out crispy and dry.

Normally, this is a good thing, especially in a burrito with lots of other moistening ingredients. But in a tortilla that’s been pressed to a toasty crisp? It’s just not for us. If you’d still like to try it, then consider taking a recommendation from the Taco Bell secret menu and adding some sauce to keep the whole ensemble from drying out too much.

11. Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito With Bacon

On our hunt for the best Taco Bell breakfast orders, an important consideration is value for money, which should mean that the chain’s toasted breakfast burritos feature higher on the list.

Unfortunately, we feel that the value of the Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito with Bacon is actually a false economy. Yes, the Grande Burritos are twice the price. But they’re also much more filling.

This may not be a major concern if you’re looking for something lighter to start the day with (although we still wouldn’t call it the healthiest breakfast) or if you’re pairing your burrito with other Taco Bell breakfast items. If that’s the case, then you’ll absolutely love the crispy bacon that’s packed into this burrito along with eggs and nacho cheese.

But if you’re ordering it by itself and are unlikely to eat again until lunchtime, you may find yourself needing to order two.

10. Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito With Sausage

The Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito with Sausage is a good example. It tastes great and is super savory, thanks to the sausage crumbles. It also features eggs and creamy nacho cheese sauce that all work together perfectly.

So why 10th place? While it’s one of the cheapest fast food breakfast options on the menu, we wouldn’t recommend ordering this burrito for your Taco Bell breakfast if you’re really hungry. It might be half the price of its Grande counterparts, but you’ll only be half as hungry by the time you’ve finished.

9. Breakfast Quesadilla With Sausage

Generally speaking, the Taco Bell breakfast quesadillas don’t really do it for us. While we know that quesadillas are supposed to be grilled “flat,” we feel that, in most cases at Taco Bell, the cooking method spoils the fillings inside. The only exception, as you’ve probably guessed, is the version made with sausage.

Alongside the toasted tortilla and melty cheese that probably enticed you to order a quesadilla in the first place, this version adds lightly spiced and seriously nice crumbles of sausage, which seem capable of withstanding the intense heat of the toasting machine. Sure, it’s not the best item you can order for breakfast at Taco Bell, but it’s also by no means the worst.

8. Grande Toasted Breakfast Burrito With Bacon

Proving ingredients really do matter, the Grande Toasted Breakfast Burrito with Bacon ranks below its counterparts. With juicy steak and moist crumbles of sausage in the other Grande Burritos, the potatoes that make this Taco Bell breakfast order so filling are kept in check. In this case, however, the crispy bacon adds a dry texture to the already drier potatoes.

Yes, the melty cheese and fluffy eggs go some way towards counteracting the dry potatoes, but without the additional moisture of sausage or steak, it’s not enough to tip the scales in this Taco Bell breakfast’s favor. If you do want to go for this dish, we recommend picking up a few orders of salsa or hot sauce.

7. Grande Toasted Breakfast Burrito With Sausage

As breakfast food ideas go, few are more classic than a sausage burrito, and we’re pleased to say that the Taco Bell breakfast version has absolutely nailed it. So, why did we rank this better than the bacon version? Primarily due to the inclusion of sausage crumbles.

They blend so beautifully with the potatoes, eggs and shredded cheese, and while we know they’re not exactly healthy, they are undeniably delicious. They’re also moist, which means they complement the crumbly potatoes perfectly.

If you’re set on ordering a burrito for your Taco Bell breakfast — and you don’t want the steak version, which we personally rank as superior  — then order yourself one of these.

6. Iced Cinnabon Delights Coffee

Generally speaking, Taco Bell doesn’t typically serve the best coffee around. But this isn’t overly surprising as it’s not the chain’s primary focus.

However, if you’d rather avoid visiting two fast food chains in a single morning, then consider pairing your Taco Bell breakfast with an Iced Cinnabon Delights Coffee.

Formulated to harness the same sought-after sweetness for which Cinnabon Delights are loved, this coffee is perfect for sweet tooths who absolutely must have caffeine in the early hours.

5. Cinnabon Delights

Among sweet-toothed patrons, Cinnabon Delights are some of the most popular Taco Bell items on the menu. If you’ve never eaten one of these sweet treats before, you can expect a similar flavor to a churro but with a sweet, creamy and decidedly sugary filling.

You can buy them in packs of two or 12, which doesn’t leave an awful lot of middle ground. Our recommendation? Order a savory Taco Bell breakfast to eat immediately, and save two of these for a mid-morning treat. Especially if your office coffee pot is forever on the boil, you’ll be glad you kept them in reserve.

4. Breakfast Crunchwrap With Bacon

While some think nothing beats bacon, we personally had to rank this Taco Bell Breakfast Crunchwrap in 4th place, behind two other Crunchwraps and, what we think is the best breakfast burrito the chain offers. However, this dish undoubtedly earns its spot in the top four.

Packed into a floury tortilla with eggs, cheese, a large hash brown and, of course, bacon, it features almost all of the most popular savory breakfast items. If you like the classics and find sausage or steak in the morning too heavy, this should be your new favorite Taco Bell breakfast order.

3. Grande Toasted Breakfast Burrito With Steak

Who doesn’t dream of steak for breakfast? Okay, maybe you don’t, but we often do, which is why it snags third place on this guide to the best Taco Bell orders at breakfast time.

Order one of these and you can expect tender, thinly-sliced steak in plentiful portions, plus eggs, tomatoes and potatoes. Sure, some may not consider it a classic breakfast. But if you want a filling and delicious Tex-Mex dish to start the day, this is the Taco Bell breakfast order to go for.

2. Breakfast Crunchwrap With Sausage

Whichever Crunchwrap you order for your Taco Bell breakfast, you’re unlikely to go wrong. The main difference between them is the meat with which they’re filled, unless you go for the California Crunchwrap, which comes with additional tomatoes and guacamole.

As standard, the Sausage Crunchwrap comes loaded with sausage, cheese, egg and a hash brown. You can also add steak, potatoes and Taco Bell’s three-cheese blend, but be warned: while filling, this is hardly a recipe for a healthy fast food breakfast

1. California Crunchwrap

The California Crunchwrap undoubtedly takes the number one spot in our guide to the best Taco Bell breakfast items. It differs a little from the previously covered Crunchwrap as it features tomatoes and guacamole.

It’s also packed with cheese, egg, a hash brown and bacon, and can easily be customized with Taco Bell sauces, like creamy jalapeño and nacho cheese, depending on your morning tolerance for spice.

If you’re really hungry and want to see just how much you can squeeze into that floury wrap, you can upgrade this Taco Bell breakfast favorite with steak, potatoes, sausage crumbles and the chain’s creamy three-cheese blend.

What Are the Taco Bell Breakfast Hours?

Taco Bell breakfast menu hours run between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. However, this is only the case at locations that continue to serve it.

Since the chain allowed franchisees to opt out of serving breakfast, a number of restaurants have removed breakfast dishes entirely from their menus. To determine whether any locations near you serve the morning menu, it’s best to use the online Taco Bell breakfast finder.

When Does Taco Bell Stop Serving Breakfast?

If you’re hankering for some of the best fast food breakfast, don’t worry. At locations that still serve it, Taco Bell breakfast is available for two hours each morning. Taco Bell opens for breakfast at 9 a.m. and stops serving it at 11 a.m.

Having read this guide, you should now have a good idea of what is — and isn’t — worth ordering for your Taco Bell breakfast. Of course, the above rankings ultimately boil down to the tastes of individual testers, and you may well find that some items appeal to your palate despite their lower ranking.

But if you’ve never ordered breakfast from this chain before, at least you have a good place to start. And if you’re a regular, hopefully the above guide has piqued your interest enough to break away from your usual order and sample something new.
