I love the ocean, which is the reason why I live on a boat. It lets me appreciate what life has to offer at its simplest. Growing up in a modern society, a lot of my previous traditions and cultural roots seem faded and lost. I’m half Hainanese and half Peranakan, regardless 100% Singaporean. Food is the most beloved thing about my culture, and I would like to strive to keep it alive.

I had such a wonderful time with Chef Desireé on her lovely boat in the peaceful Berkeley marina. The food was incredible and even though I hadn't heard of Paranakan food before, I was delighted by the flavor of the food and the authentic manner in which it was prepared. I will definitely be going back for more!
