In this hands-on class with Chef Kateland, you will learn how to prepare a menu of traditional French fare featuring both the simplicity and elegance of the country's world renowned cuisine.
Some of the recipes you can look forward to mastering and adding to your culinary repertoire in this class include an elegant steak tartare, and a lesser known gem of French gastronomy: a Basque chicken emblematic of the region's affection for colorful, peppery stews. End class with a light, crisp, nutty, and buttery pistachio financiers that melt in the mouth for dessert.

Chef Kateland's rendition of fried green tomatoes were tasty, making me glad to have the opportunity to try them for the first time. Crispy, with a tangy remoulade, they also held their texture, avoiding any potential sogginess. The johnnycake topped with spicy shrimp was another Southern-inspired dish that packed diverse textures and flavors. Her meat driven plates - the Kalbi marinated short ribs and Poulet Basquaise - were colorful and seasoned well, demonstrating an adept hand and eye in the kitchen.
Over the past several years, Chef Kateland has risen in the ranks from junior sous chef to senior sous chef at a renowned large-scale, high-end catering company, which hosts events ranging from small parties of 50 to upwards of 3,000 guests. Chef Kateland’s extensive culinary experience, natural leadership skills, and passion for cooking are all showcased in her can’t-miss cooking classes.
