Iszy Potter is a British-born writer, food historian, and recipe developer based in Cape Town. She holds a degree in Art History, Visual Culture, and English Literature, along with multiple Food Hygiene and Safety certifications. Her work specializes in nutrition, global cuisines, and the cultural stories behind what we eat.
Mentored early in her career by Kiano Moju, the former video producer at BuzzFeed Tasty, Iszy has gone on to be the lead editor for multiple food brands and a regular contributor to Cozymeal, where she writes about everything from food trends to practical nutrition insights.
In 2024, she was the editor for Moju’s debut cookbook, AfriCali: Recipes From My Jikoni (Simon & Schuster), and she later partnered with the non-profit Jikoni Recipe Archive to build the largest known database of African cookbooks by African authors. Iszy has also worked as Chef de Cuisine at Emily English’s restaurant, The Nutritionist Table, where she made nutritionally balanced meals in collaboration with the certified nutritionist.
Now rooted in one of the world’s food capitals, she is passionate about amplifying underrepresented food cultures and hopes to inspire readers to explore the world through its many flavors.
