Trusted by food lovers in NYC since 2014.
Not every date happens in the city. These work when you're in different time zones, when the weather has made the decision for you, or when leaving the apartment is the last thing either of you wants to do. Kits ship ahead, the host leads the session live and you both get to create something together.

We cooked risotto and gelato. The risotto came amazingly well.
Booked the class Hand-Rolled Sushi Essentials with Chef Misun
It was great to learn how to make sushi with Chef Misun. She was very informative and polite.
Booked the class Hand-Rolled Sushi Essentials with Chef Misun
Chef Misun was amazing! From the second I booked, communication was clear and she responded to all my questions quickly. I even had a custom request, which she was more than happy to accommodate. The miso soup and ginger dressing were hands down the best any of us ever had, and there was so much food. She made rolling the sushi so easy to understand, and learning from her was a ton of fun. Everything was truly perfect!

My wife and I went on the Immigrant Influence food tour of NYC. Seth our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was good and plentiful. Make sure you go on an empty stomach. My favorite was the pizza at Nolita's and my wife's favorite was the roasted pork bun from Chinatown. The food stops also included a smoothie, pickle, a cannoli and a Jewish bialys.

Booked the class A Vegan African Feast with Chef Angela-Michelle in Hosted Online
This class was gifted to me by my daughter and her husband for my birthday, and it was such a fun and meaningful way to spend time together while making yummy food. We cooked a delicious Ethiopian vegan feast, including several flavorful dishes and injera bread, which was especially fun and memorable to make. I learned new Ethiopian cooking techniques, how to work with unfamiliar spices, and gained a better understanding of the injera-making process. Chef Angela was warm, friendly, and very skilled. She explained each step clearly, demonstrated techniques well, and regularly checked in to make sure everyone was keeping up. My favorite moment was making the injera and sharing the whole experience with my daughter. The only minor drawbacks were that the 45-minute class felt a bit short for preparing three dishes, even with ingredients prepped, and the listed 30-minute prep time realistically took closer to an hour. The class was also confirmed only 24 hours in advance, which made ingredient shopping a bit rushed. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the feast! I’d recommend this class to anyone who enjoys trying new cuisines, loves Ethiopian food, or wants a fun online cooking experience to share with family.
Booked the class Homemade Pasta and Panna Cotta with Chef Davide
We made homemade pasta with tomato sauce and panna cotta. I received this as a gift from my daughter to perfect my panna cotta skills. It was a delightful way to spend a snowy evening. Davide was fabulous! He gave clear directions and walked us through each step. He has a great personality for teaching & was funny and witty. I enjoyed a few laughs. Just can’t say enough positive about this fantastic lesson. Food was delicious and I finally know the secret to a great panna cotta. Win win!

Today I made homemade fettuccini, homemade basil marinara, and homemade panna cotta! I can’t even begin to explain how simple and WONDERFUL this experience was! Chef was thorough, calm, and precise with his instructions! It moved like a symphony in perfect tune!!! I wish I were able to recommend this class to EVERYONE! If leaving this review is all I can do, I give it 15 out of 10 stars!!! This class has given me the confidence to up my personal cooking to another level! THANK YOU CHEF for everything today! My wife literally cried when she tried my Panna cotta!!! All because YOU taught me how!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! This was the GREATEST Christmas gift I could have possibly received!!! I’m not a chef, I’m a cook! And this class just kicked me up a notch!!! Nothing but praise and admiration!!! Salute!!!

Booked the class The Best of Italian Favorites with Chef Kenneth in Manhattan (Upper East Side)
Chef Ken was great-had a relaxed easygoing but professional manner. He came with everything he needed short of a blender which we provided for and assorted pots/pans. We learned a lot-and were put to work in a fun voluntary manner..our groups got their hands dirty from time to time but Ken also cooked/kept things moving forward as we were also catching up while watching/learning. I was impressed by the time saving use of the blender and various shortcuts learned to save time/effort that provided delicious results! Chef Ken taught us how easy some of these dishes were to make-incredible arancini in a marinara sauce, a fantastic Caesar salad w homemade dressing, homemade gnocchi in a Gorgonzola sauce, and delicious homemade cannoli w chocolate chip ricotta filling! He did a great job of passing tips and tricks along the way.. Our group learned a lot and agreed we would like to recreate some of these dishes at home again. I would recommend working w Chef Ken for your next cooking lesson/dinner party!

Looking for date ideas in NYC? Explore 200+ date ideas in NYC, including hands-on cooking classes, private chef dinners, food tours, mixology classes, wine tastings and virtual experiences for couples. Whether you're planning a first date, celebrating an anniversary or birthday, marking Valentine's Day or simply looking for a fun night together, you can compare experiences by price, location and activity type.
The best NYC date ideas give you something to experience together. Cook something new, explore a neighborhood, discover new flavors or turn dinner itself into the experience.
Culinary dates combine a shared activity with something delicious to enjoy. A full-meal cooking class or private chef experience can double as dinner, while a baking class may be better suited to a lighter outing. Check the menu or itinerary in advance to see exactly what is included.
A cooking class in NYC gives couples a shared activity from the beginning of the date. Learn new techniques, work through recipes together and then enjoy the food you prepared.
For a hands-on date, consider Feast Like A Greek with Chef Ivan. The class takes place in Manhattan (Greenwich Village). The menu includes 6 courses. Compare the menu, skill level and available dates to see whether it suits both of you.
Ingredients and the food you prepare are included in the class price, so one booking takes care of both the activity and the meal. Select classes may also be available privately or at your place for couples who want a more personal date night.
A private chef in NYC makes dinner itself the date. Instead of booking a table at a restaurant, a chef comes to your chosen location and prepares the meal for you.
The chef handles the ingredients, cooking, serving and cleanup afterward, leaving you free to spend the evening together. Private chef experiences can work especially well for anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine's Day, proposals and occasions when you want more privacy than a restaurant can offer.
For a hands-on date, consider Classic Korean BBQ with Chef Misun. The chef travels to guests in Manhattan. The menu includes 4 courses. Compare the menu, skill level and available dates to see whether it suits both of you.
A food tour in NYC turns New York City itself into part of the date. Instead of spending the entire experience in one place, you can walk through a neighborhood, visit multiple food stops and discover more about local dishes, people and stories along the way.
There is no single perfect date night in New York City. The best choice depends on what you both enjoy and the kind of evening you want.
Choose a cooking class if you enjoy discovering new cuisines and want to get hands-on together. Instead of simply ordering a favorite dish, you can learn how to make it and enjoy the finished meal together.
A food tour is another good option if you would rather sample several dishes while exploring NYC.
A private chef dinner creates a more intimate dining experience at your home or another suitable private location. It can be particularly fitting for anniversaries, proposals and other occasions when you want more privacy and fewer distractions.
Choose a food tour if you would rather walk, discover and taste your way through NYC than spend the entire date in one location.
A cooking class can also work well for adventurous couples who want to try a cuisine or technique that is new to both of them.
Staying home does not have to mean another night of takeout.
A private chef can bring the dining experience to you, some cooking classes can be hosted at your location and online cooking, mixology and wine experiences make it easy to enjoy something together from home.
Online cooking classes, online mixology classes and virtual wine tastings let couples take part in the same activity from different places.
Instead of simply scheduling another video call, you can make the same meal, mix cocktails or explore wine together while following an instructor or host.
Good first date ideas give you something to focus on while still leaving plenty of room for conversation.
Cooking classes, food tours and mixology classes can work particularly well because the activity naturally creates things to talk about and shared moments throughout the date.
Compare the total cost of the evening, not just the activity price.
With cooking classes, private chef experiences and food tours on Cozymeal, food is already included. That means you may not need to pay separately for both a date activity and dinner.
For an anniversary, consider an experience that gives you more uninterrupted time together. A private chef dinner can create an intimate evening, while a couples cooking class gives you something new to learn and enjoy together.
Popular Valentine's Day dates can book earlier than ordinary weeknights, so planning ahead generally gives you more choice.
Cooking classes, private chef dinners and wine experiences can also give couples an alternative to competing for a traditional Valentine's Day restaurant reservation.
If your partner is celebrating a birthday, make the experience part of the gift. Choose something around their favorite cuisine, drink or style of date, whether that means making sushi, exploring NYC on a food tour or enjoying a dinner prepared by a private chef.
Rain does not have to cancel your plans.
Indoor cooking classes, mixology classes and private chef dinners keep the date centered around a shared experience without relying on good weather. Online cooking classes and virtual tastings give you another option if you would rather stay home.
The best date idea in NYC depends on the experience you want, the occasion, your budget and how you want to spend your time together. Whether you’re planning a first date, anniversary, special celebration or casual date night, use these tips to find an experience that works for both of you.
For a hands-on date, book a couples cooking class and learn to make something new together. If you would rather explore the city, choose an NYC food tour and discover local dishes and neighborhoods along the way. For a more intimate date night, book a private chef and enjoy a restaurant-quality meal at home without having to cook or clean up.
Different occasions call for different experiences. Cooking classes and food tours can be great for first dates and casual nights out because they give you something to do and talk about together. For anniversaries, birthdays, proposals and other special occasions, a private chef dinner or memorable cooking class can make the evening feel more personal.
Think about whether you want to go out, stay in or explore a new part of NYC. Cooking classes may take place at a chef’s venue or, for select experiences, at your location. Food tours let you experience NYC together on foot, while private chefs bring the dining experience to your home or another suitable location. Long-distance couples and couples planning a night in can also explore online experiences.
When comparing date ideas in NYC, consider the overall experience rather than price alone. Cooking classes include ingredients and the food you prepare, private chef experiences typically include ingredients, cooking, serving and cleanup and food tours include the tastings featured along the route. Check each listing for the current menu, location, duration, availability and other important details, then choose the date-night experience that best suits your plans.
Compare popular NYC date ideas to find the experience that best fits the kind of evening you are planning.
