23 Best Mio Flavors Ranked in 2025
If you think you hate water, we have great news: there’s a Mio flavor that might just make hydration stop feeling like a chore.
We all learned in school that we can’t live without water for very long. Nothing is more essential for your health than proper hydration. According to the Centers for Disease Control, too little water can lead to poor cognitive function, constipation, and all kinds of other ailments we’d all rather avoid.
But to some, the idea of gulping down glass after glass of plain water is decidedly unpleasant. So, how do you stay hydrated if you hate drinking water?
That’s where Mio comes in. These liquid flavorings can add a sugar-free, calorie-free taste to your water, incentivizing you to drink this important beverage.
Adding Mio flavoring might be a great solution to the problem of getting yourself to drink enough water. But are all of those Mio water flavors really worth a try?
The Mio flavors list now boasts 23 flavors, and preferences vary. So, which are the best Mio flavors? Read on for some pointers.

23 Best Mio Water Flavors Ranked
23. Berry Grape
Grape is almost nobody’s favorite artificial fruit flavor, but if it’s yours, this Mio flavor might look exciting to you. Shouldn’t the tartness of the berry flavor balance out a little of the sweetness of the grape?
You’d think. But instead of a harmonious balance, this Mio water flavor leaves you with a muddle of generic, too-sweet fruitiness.
Berry Grape could have been a good addition to the Mio flavors list in another world. But its execution leaves much to be desired, forcing us to rank it dead last out of the 23 best Mio flavors ranked.
22. Sweet Tea
In some parts of the United States, sweet tea is a way of life. You’re not likely to be very impressed with this Mio flavor if you happen to hail from one of them.
Real sweet tea works because the tea base gives it a touch of bitterness that cuts the sweetness of all that sugar (bonus points if you squeeze in some lemon juice for much-needed tartness). This sweet tea imitation has neither of those advantages, and what you get as a result is a faceful of sweetness beyond anything you asked for or even wanted.
It’s not a great sweet tea imitation, which may be disappointing if you were hoping for a zero-calorie sweet tea alternative. You’d best accept that this Mio flavor isn’t going to live up to the towering reputation of the original. Worthy only of the most infamous Southern send-off: “Well, bless your heart.”
21. MiO Energy Wicked Blue Citrus
The name of this Mio Energy flavor from the brand’s sports drink-inspired line makes it sound like lemonade on steroids. Unfortunately, the only thing on steroids here is the chemical sweetness.
While it might be a hit with those who love blue raspberry, it doesn’t have enough citrus flavor to really live up to its name. Instead, you’ll get a vaguely sweet, vaguely tart fruit flavor that doesn’t really taste like anything found in nature.
Blue raspberry really is the only appropriate comparison here. If you have any desire whatsoever for your Mio-infused water to taste like the fruit on the label, there are other Mio flavors that are much more successful.
20. MiO Sport Lemon Lime
This one is a little more subjective than the previous Mio flavors we’ve looked at. While it receives a fairly low rating from those who think it tastes too much like 7-Up, there may be some people who love that about Mio Sport Lemon Lime. (The Mio Sport flavors are a hydration-focused line of exercise drinks, if you were wondering what the difference was.)
To some, the citrusy refreshment of this Mio flavor will probably be overridden by its artificial aftertaste. It lacks the bright tang that you really want in a glass of lemon-lime anything. But if you like the sweeter, more muddled taste of lemon-lime soda, this one will probably rank a bit higher on your personal list of the best Mio flavors.
19. MiO Hydrate Berry Blast
Sure, Berry Blast is tasty enough – it has that inoffensive, unrecognizable-but-still-pleasant fruity taste that so many sports drinks do. You’re definitely not going to hate it, regardless of your flavor preferences.
But it’s also a little dull, and it seems like that should be completely avoidable. Mio has all the artificial flavors in the world at its fingertips — why put out something that tastes forgettable? We’re being a little harsh here, but we really do believe that there’s no excuse to be boring if you’re trying to compete with the best energy drinks on the market.
No one will be mad if you bring a pack of Mio Hydrate Berry Blast home, but no one is likely to be too excited, either. Let that thought guide you when you’re deciding whether to go in for a pack of this flavor.
18. MiO Energy Green Thunder
There are two essential things to know about this Mio flavor: it’s supposed to taste like green apple, and a lot of people hate it. The main reason for this is its weirdly artificial flavor: instead of the expected green apple Jolly Rancher (unbeatable), many compare it to energy drinks like Monster and Red Bull (not always the best).
If you’re a big energy drink person, you may actually love this Mio flavor. It has the same smooth, pleasantly chemical taste. But if you’re looking for nuance, fruitiness, or the flavor of a real green apple, look elsewhere.
This is clearly Mio’s attempt to imitate some of the bigger brands of energy drinks, and it succeeds…for better and for worse.
17. Orange Tangerine
Orange is a pretty reliable fruit flavor, right? Even artificial orange doesn’t have the same tendency to taste like it was created in a lab that some others do. Right…? Meh.
Orange Tangerine is certainly far from the worst Mio flavor, but it’s also not especially great. As far as imitations of an orange go, Orange Tangerine is just not doing it.
It’s more like cheap orange juice from concentrate than anything else — ick. There are flavors much more offensive in the Mio lineup, and you might even enjoy Orange Tangerine in its own right, but this one is one of the more disappointing.
16. Açai Berry Storm
Açai has been making headlines for a couple of years now. Most of us have seen the tart, versatile superfood used to make those photogenic purple breakfast bowls, but there’s much more that you can do with its unique flavor. Mio tries to capitalize on that with this flavor, but it only kind of succeeds.
When you pick up a packet of Açai Berry Storm, you’re expecting a punchy tartness that just isn’t here. What fruit flavor there is in Açai Berry Storm is so mild that it starts to resemble a can of flavored sparkling water; you know how those flavors always taste like the faintest echo of whatever it is they’re meant to be?
That’s what’s going on here. This isn’t an Açai Berry Storm – it’s “Açai, Quietly, From Across the Room.” Palatable? Mostly. Disappointing? Absolutely.
15. MiO Hydrate Lemon Lime
It’s hard to put a pin in this Mio flavor, which seems like it ought to taste like Sprite but actually tastes like…well, nothing identifiable. There’s something herbal about it, but it’s not intentional, so it just winds up tasting like nobody knew what they wanted this flavor to be.
Is it still strangely good? For many, yes. But it’s not one of the better Mio flavors by any stretch of the imagination.
14. Lemonade
There are good and bad points here. You’d think Lemonade would be the most reliable Mio flavor by miles, but the reality is a bit more of a mixed bag.
The pros? Unlike many pre-made lemonade mix-ins, this Mio flavor doesn’t fall into the trap of using too much sweetener. It’s properly tart.
But the cons balance out that promising start. What are the drawbacks? Well, it might actually not be sweet enough, and there’s a bit of an artificial aftertaste. Lemonade could be infinitely worse, but this Mio flavor could be a whole lot better, too.
13. Berry Pomegranate
There is no real consensus on this Mio flavor. Some say you can’t taste the berry flavor, and others don’t taste any pomegranate. Some think it’s too sour and some praise it for the exact same reason.
Fan discourse is heated, and that makes it difficult to get a read on this Mio flavor until you’ve tried it yourself. The only thing we can be sure of with this one is that it’s one of the tartest Mio flavors, so if you’re looking for something sour, Berry Pomegranate might be one to check out.
12. MiO Sport Arctic Grape
We’re not fans of grape around here. It’s frankly kind of shocking to us that a grape flavor managed to climb so far in the rankings, but Arctic Grape is exactly what grape fans the world over have been waiting for.
Love grape soda? This Mio flavor replicates that taste almost perfectly, and with the added bonus of electrolytes and B Vitamins that come with all of the Mio Sport flavors.
If you’re not fond of grape, you probably won’t even pick up this Mio flavor, and that’s perfectly fine. But those who do enjoy a good glass of grape juice or Grape Crush may not be able to get enough of this Mio flavor. Thus, we have no choice but to begrudgingly give Arctic Grape its due.
11. Mango Peach
Mango Peach sounds like it should be a top-class Mio flavor: it’s sweet, a little tangy, and tastes like an afternoon on a tropical beach. What points it loses in our book are lost because it has a slight chemical aftertaste, and because you might not taste as much mango as peach. If you’re okay with a slightly less nuanced flavor than you’d normally expect from a mango drink, you’ll probably love this one.
10. Orange Vanilla
One of the main draws of Mio water enhancers is the sugar-free ingredients list. The idea that you can enjoy the taste of your favorite sugary beverages without the sugar, or at least something like them, is a very intriguing one.
But Orange Vanilla takes that concept one step further: what if a Mio flavor could give you your dessert fix? Orange Vanilla is pretty much the flavor profile of a Creamsicle in liquid form.
There’s obviously a lot you’ll miss out on by losing the ice cream, but the creamy, tangy and sweet profile of Orange Vanilla gets the point across. The flavors are on point, and, as Orange Vanilla comes from the Mio Vitamins line, it’s enhanced with other stuff your body needs to stay in shape.
There are few downsides to this Mio flavor, except perhaps that it’s not so delicious if your water isn’t cold. (Some fans have had bad experiences with room-temperature water paired with this Mio flavor.)
9. Blueberry Lemonade
Earlier, we talked about the classic Lemonade Mio flavor being a little too tart. Here’s one possible solution: add an uber-sweet fruit flavor, and you’ll be golden.
In most cases, the blueberry flavor of this water enhancer would be sickeningly sweet, but the tartness of the lemonade base makes it much more balanced and pleasant. It’s a lovely alternative to the sometimes-disappointing flavor of the usual Lemonade Mio.
8. Cranberry Raspberry
Cranberry and raspberry are both tart flavors, but they’re tart in extremely different ways. Raspberry has a balancing sweetness, while cranberries are so tart they almost turn the corner to bitter sometimes.
We think the idea behind this Mio flavor was to combine the two and let them neutralize each other. It doesn’t really work, though. The reason it ranks so high? Well, there aren’t a whole lot of other flavors operating in this niche.
If you like sour flavors, this might be the best Mio flavor on the market for getting your fix. We won’t count out the possibility that someone is actively looking for the very thing that we think is a drawback of Cranberry Raspberry.
But absolutely anyone else will probably take a single sip and recoil. It’s so sour. If that isn’t your thing, tread with caution.
7. MiO Energy Tropical Fusion
It doesn’t matter if you can identify every fruit in this Mio flavor or not: it tastes like a tropical vacation. We can’t think of a better Mio Energy flavor to try if you’re struggling to keep your eyes open.
It may be 3 a.m. the night before a difficult exam or a big presentation at work, but you deserve to take your mind to a beautiful white-sand beach. Do it with Tropical Fusion.
6. Cherry Blackberry
Two flavors that sound incompatible but improbably make it work. While it’s not the best blackberry flavor on this list, this Mio flavor still manages to integrate the very different flavor profiles of cherry and blackberry beautifully into a coherent whole.
Like all the best odd couples, it’s an unexpected but delightful mix of parts not often used together. Brilliant, but not quite top-5 quality because it might still taste a bit too much like cough syrup for any true cherry haters out there.
5. Strawberry Kiwi
Everybody’s favorite CapriSun flavor, now in sugar-free, calorie-free, water-flavoring form. If you grew up in the 1990s or 2000s (or your kids did), you almost certainly feel a little nostalgic for this winning flavor combination; Mio does it justice.
Perhaps it’s a bit sweet for some, but if you like the mix of strawberry and kiwi in the first place, you won’t be disappointed by this variation. Not the absolute best in Mio’s catalog, but definitely up there.
4. Strawberry Watermelon
There are no two fruits more refreshing than strawberry and watermelon, and therein lies the genius of this Mio flavor. You’ll feel yourself being hydrated with every sip.
The only thing keeping Strawberry Watermelon from climbing even higher in the ranks is its sweetness. While most find it balanced and enjoyable, there are some who can’t handle the sugary taste of these two classic summer fruits together.
We think that’s their loss, but we can’t avoid considering those dissenting takes when ranking Mio flavors.
3. Strawberry Pineapple Smash
The presence of three consecutive strawberry-based flavors in the top five should tell you everything you need to know. Mio obviously does strawberry flavors well, and this one edges out its competitors ever so slightly with its bright, tropical flavor.
Pineapple is a hard flavor to pair with others; it’s got layers, sweet one moment and stingingly tart the next. So, consistent strawberry as a partner was a great choice for this Mio flavor. Strawberry Pineapple Smash takes a great combination and executes it as well as you’d hope, and that’s enough to crack the top three.
2. Fruit Punch
Fruit punch is not exactly going to earn a spot on any list of healthy drinks, but that’s the charm of this Mio flavor. You don’t choose a fruit punch flavor for the electrolytes and vitamins.
And it’s that delightfully muddled taste of who-knows-what fruit flavors that makes fruit punch such an enjoyable drink, so Mio’s strong imitation easily earns it a spot near the top. So many Mio flavors have been dinged on this list for their indistinct flavor profiles, but in the case of Fruit Punch, that’s a good thing.
Fruit punch is its own flavor, an amalgamation of a bunch of things we don’t care about as long as they combine to taste like the stuff we grew up drinking. It’s a great example of what a Mio flavor can do when it works with the brand’s weaknesses instead of against them.
1. MiO Energy Black Cherry
Mio Energy flavors don’t tend to be among the brand’s strongest offerings, and we’ve already panned several on this list. But when Mio’s caffeinated product line manages to churn out a good product, it’s good.
Surrounded by flavors whose execution is a little questionable, Mio Energy Black Cherry is one of the most beloved Mio flavors in the lineup.
Much like a real black cherry, it’s sweet, but with the balancing note of tartness that so many Mio flavors are sorely lacking. As much as an artificially flavored liquid gel can taste like anything found in nature, Mio Energy Black Cherry imitates the original impressively well.
Maybe you hate cherry flavoring, and you’re not going to love this one no matter what. But if your mind is even a little bit open to the possibility that you might enjoy it, this Mio flavor deservingly comes out on top of the rankings.
Is Mio Water Flavoring Bad for You?
When thinking about how much water you should drink a day, many of us can’t say that we’re drinking enough. Yet, many find drinking liters of plain water a daunting prospect, hence the market for water flavorings like Mio.
This popular water flavor enhancer might sound too good to be true because it has no sugar or calories. Adding it to your beverage seems like a consequence-free way to sweeten a boring old glass of water.
Certain lines can also help you replenish your electrolytes, a critical component of proper hydration. But, while Mio is generally safe to drink, there are some caveats you should know about.
In order to create a sweet flavor without sugar, Mio uses two artificial sweeteners – sucralose and Ace-K – as well as stevia. While Stevia is plant-based and broadly considered to be safe per current research, sucralose and Ace-K have both raised red flags in preliminary research. Sucralose might make the body slightly more vulnerable to DNA mutations, and Ace-K had negative impacts on weight and the gut microbiome in trials on mice.
While these links to adverse health outcomes are not yet conclusive, you should be aware that these sweeteners might not be the best things to be putting in your body. For now, drink Mio in moderation.
Remember, water is the healthiest drink out there without any add-ons. So, is Mio healthy? In moderation, sure, but it may not be a great idea to use it with every single glass of water you drink.
When it comes to hydration, plain water will always reign supreme. But if that’s just not happening for you, the extensive catalogue of Mio flavors might help you get a few more daily glasses in.
And if you’re looking to try the flavoring strategy for better hydration, we hope this list of Mio flavors ranked helped you narrow down which flavors are most worth your first try.
