31 Best Starbucks Frappuccinos Ranked in 2025

Published on August 28, 2025 | 0 Comments
The best Starbucks Frappuccinos include caramel, mocha and espresso

Don’t kid yourself that you’ve outgrown the joy that the best Starbucks Frappuccinos can offer. Although there’s something distinctly adolescent about taking your coffee blended with ice, milk and about three hundred pumps of flavored corn syrup, there’s a pleasure in a great Starbucks Frappuccino that nobody is too old or too sophisticated for.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be such a dizzying array of these drinks on the market, with new flavors seemingly hitting stores with every new season.

That variety causes a few problems, though. How are we to know which are the best Starbucks Fraps and which offer only an empty sugar rush? And if we pit ‘em all against each other, which comes out on top as the best Starbucks Frappuccino?

How We Ranked These Starbucks Frappuccinos

As a trusted platform for all your culinary advice needs, Cozymeal is dedicated to making sure you have access to all the food-related information you need.

Whether that’s expert-led cooking content or this totally objective ranking of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos, it’s what our team does best. So when it comes time to rank a popular food product, we want to make sure that we reflect the opinions of consumers like you who have tried the product.

We can’t just leave all you Starbucks-goers to flounder in a sea of endless Frappuccino options. So we’ve turned to your fellow fans to figure out which Starbucks Frappuccinos you have to try and which may be worth avoiding.

Customer reviews and our own personal experiences at this renowned coffee chain (of course, we’ve had a few Starbucks Frappuccinos in our day!) informed most of our ranking decisions.

The following criteria were especially important when deciding where to rank the most popular Starbucks Frappuccinos:

  • Overall Taste: Does the Frappuccino’s taste live up to its name? Are flavors balanced, or does it tilt overwhelmingly towards one flavor?
  • Popularity: How many customers had positive things to say about this? If we’ve tried the flavor before, did we enjoy it?
  • Staying Power: Has this flavor been persistently popular? Has it stuck around in the lineup and built up a reputation as one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos?

You may already have your own ideas about the best Starbucks Frappuccinos. In fact, we’d bet you do. But if you’re looking to branch out a little bit, we’ve peeked around every corner we could to figure out what people are saying about the best Starbucks Frappuccinos to add to your rotation.

The 31 Best Frappuccinos at Starbucks Ranked

31. Coffee

Some simpler flavors are among the best Starbucks Frappuccinos. Others have very little going for them. Unfortunately for Coffee, this most basic of Fraps is also one of the least exciting.

The sweetness of the Frappuccino base clashes with the bitterness of coffee instead of harmonizing with it. And while plain coffee drinks are often among the healthiest Starbucks drinks, this one doesn’t even have that going for it: it’s still a Frappuccino, at the end of the day, and that means a sugar rush. This just isn’t it.

30. Cotton Candy

If we included every drink on the Starbucks secret menu, this article would never end. So, how do we decide which unofficial flavors ought to get a shout-out and which shouldn’t? In this case, we’ve included a far-from-the-best Starbucks Frappuccino as a kind of control to remind us what a subpar frap can be.

Cotton Candy is a seemingly simple Frappuccino, consisting only of a vanilla base (no coffee here) and raspberry syrup. But what you get when you combine the two is as puckeringly sweet as the candy it’s supposedly inspired by.

While many customers with a sweet tooth favor the Frappuccino for its sugar content, it’s hard to imagine who would actually want a frap this sweet. But good on Cotton Candy for broadcasting its dangers in the name — anyone in search of sugar-free Starbucks drinks or keto Starbucks drinks will know to run far away.

29. Lavender Crème

If aesthetics were one of our criteria for judging the best Starbucks Frappuccinos, Lavender Crème would win easily.

This pale-purple drink is gorgeous, and every time it’s re-released as part of the seasonal spring lineup, fans flock to stores for a drink that photographs like none other. Unfortunately, the beauty of this Frappuccino is only skin-deep.

While its light sweetness has won enough fans to keep Lavender Crème coming back in the springtime, many feel that it tastes like soap. That’s really not the comparison that you want to be drawing when you’re trying to invent a great Starbucks Frappuccino.

So while this one is a winner on your Instagram story, you may find yourself wishing a few sips in that you’d ordered something else.

28. White Chocolate Crème

If a frappuccino has “crème” in its name, that means it’s made without coffee. That’s fantastic if you don’t love coffee or need to watch your caffeine intake, but sometimes it takes away the grounding influence of coffee where it’s needed most.

This is one such instance, which is why White Chocolate Crème doesn’t even come close to the best Starbucks Frappuccinos. White chocolate is as cloying a flavor as they come, and you either love it or hate it.

If it's a particular brand of richness that isn’t your thing, know that’s what this Frappuccino offers: blindingly sweet white chocolate and little else. There are definitely people out here who love this flavor, but they’re a niche breed.

27. White Chocolate Mocha

In a world of over-the-top flavors nobody asked for, there’s one thing a Frappuccino can be that might be even worse: boring. With all those syrups at your disposal, how on earth can you make a boring drink? That’s unfortunately why White Chocolate Mocha isn’t one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos.

There’s nothing offensive going on here, but that’s mostly because there’s almost nothing going on at all. Most customers agree that it tastes more like a plain coffee with a ton of cream and sugar than anything else, which may be someone’s thing but isn’t ours. Simple is good. One-note is not.

26. Pumpkin Spice Crème

Riddle us this: in the early morning of a chilly autumn day, what do you definitely not want? If you said ‘iced coffee,’ you’ve hit on the biggest issue with this frappuccino. Yes, the PSL is so beloved that pumpkin spice anything will sell.

But a Frappuccino, to us, is a summer drink. Add that to the thoroughly middle-of-the-road flavor of this frap, and you definitely don’t have one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos.

That’s especially true when you take away the coffee that makes the original pumpkin spice Starbucks order so beloved. Without that balance, you’re left with a milkshake sans ice cream, and that’s not a format in which pumpkin spice shines. We’ll pass on this one.

25. Java Chip

This may be a controversial rating: there are more than a few fans out there who’d rank it right up there with the best Starbucks Frappuccinos.

But Java Chip feels to us like a flavor we never entirely needed. If you want chocolate in your frappuccino, there are a good handful of flavors further down the list that do more interesting things than throwing some chocolate chips into a blender.

Plus, when chocolate is frozen, it tends to get so hard and crumbly that its trademark richness is all but undetectable. If your idea of the best Starbucks Frappuccino involves chocolate, there are many more flavorful and effective ways to get it than this perfectly fine but uninspiring drink.

24. Chestnut Praline

There’s a lot going on here, and it’s obvious that Chestnut Praline was a (seasonal) attempt at making the best Starbucks Frappuccino of the new, anything-goes generation. It’s got a salty-sweet dichotomy going on, a little nuttiness, a lot of caramel — and all of that combines to make a drink that’s really more sweet than anything else.

Wow, is this one sweet.

We give Chestnut Praline credit for effort: it does more than most contenders for the title of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos are even thinking about. But does it work? Not really. This one has potential, but it would take some tweaking to get anywhere near the top of this list.

23. Caramel Ribbon Crunch

Oh boy, does this one have a wide range of reviews. Fans who love it — usually people who love caramel with a devotion that borders on fanatical — swear they’ll defend it to their final breath.

But those who hate it are speaking a truth we can’t ignore: as much as we love caramel around here, there is such a thing as too much. And once you’ve passed that tipping point, your bid for the title of the best Starbucks Frappuccino is basically over.

This flavor isn’t truly terrible. But the sweetness of the caramel is overwhelming, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a fan who doesn’t start feeling a little sugared-out in only a few sips. Just our opinion here, but the best Starbucks Frappuccino is probably one you can actually finish.

22. Pumpkin Spice

Our comments on the Pumpkin Spice Crème flavor apply here, too, but the presence of coffee — in all its sweetness-balancing glory — saves the regular Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino from the same sad ranking as its decaf counterpart.

While we still remain vehemently convinced that a fall-themed iced coffee is wrong on a fundamental level, this does capture the essence of the PSL in a more convincing way than the Creme version. Still not one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos by any stretch, but not quite as bad as we’ve seen that it could be.

21. Matcha Crème

Matcha is all the rage these days, so it’s unsurprising that Starbucks is getting in on it. (Actually, there are a few matcha drinks on the Starbucks menu, but this is the first time it’s made its way into a Frappuccino.) And on some levels, the result is good.

The earthy, slightly bitter taste that makes matcha so unique comes through nicely. It’s also one of the only Crème drinks that might offer you an energy boost, thanks to the natural caffeine in green tea (yes, green tea does have caffeine!)

Unfortunately, this doesn’t quite make it up to the top ranks with the best Starbucks Frappuccinos. Matcha is a bit of an acquired taste, and if you don’t love it, you may feel like you’re drinking sugary grass. Plus, it’s a bit grainy, which can be off-putting.

20. Pistachio

This nutty Frappuccino might sound funky, but it’s doing something that none of the other Starbucks Frappuccinos are attempting, and that counts for something. It’s not a bad attempt, either.

Although you’ll probably only enjoy this Frappuccino if you already like pistachio (which we know can be polarizing), it’s well-executed and more nuanced than many of its peers. If you aren’t put off by the thought of a nut-flavored frap, give this one a shot.

19. Caramel Ribbon Crunch Crème

Earlier on, we noted that the coffee version of Caramel Ribbon Crunch isn’t one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos. The Crème version isn’t, either, but it gets a lot closer to being a great Starbucks Frappuccino. Why? Because it inherently attracts an audience that’s going to enjoy it a lot more than the traditional Frappuccino would.

If you’re going to make a drink so sweet it’s practically a milkshake, why not go all the way? That’s what this drink does, and we give it credit for that. All the same problems we went over with the regular Frappuccino still apply, but if you’re ordering this drink, you’re more likely to be okay with that.

18. Apple Crisp Oatmilk

This one goes out to anyone who’s been searching in vain for dairy-free options at Starbucks. While you can get all the best Starbucks Frappuccino flavors made with a dairy alternative, this one is built around that substitution. But it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos.

Apple Crisp Oatmilk definitely tastes like an apple crisp, but it’s intensely sweet and can be a bit inconsistent. (It might not taste quite the same every time you order it.) It’s a fun seasonal novelty flavor and pretty tasty, but ultimately not the best Starbucks frappuccino in the non-dairy category.

17. Caramel

A classic, and the best Starbucks Frappuccino to many. It’s got a kick of saltiness, a towering reputation, and a balance of bitter and sweet flavors that always hits. Ask a group of 10 people their Starbucks order, and at least one will likely cite this classic.

The only reason it’s hovering around the midway point of the list is because a couple of other caramel flavors are doing more exciting things, giving us a tantalizing taste of what this time-tested Frappuccino could’ve been.

16. Vanilla Crème

This would be near-perfect, one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos by far, if not for one critical misfire: it melts. Yes, everything does. But when a vanilla milkshake melts, what do you get? Ice cream soup. It’s kinda tasty even if it’s not what you were hoping for.

When this one melts, you get water. And slowly but surely, that meltwater dilutes this formerly-delicious drink until all that’s left is a pale, watery ghost of what was once among the best Starbucks Frappuccinos. It’s hard to overstate how delightfully bland, smooth and vanilla-y this drink is in its prime, but it fades all too fast.

15. Chocolate Java Mint

Mint seems like an obvious addition to the Frappuccino lineup, so this seasonal flavor is no surprise. Also unsurprising is how well it works: since mint is so cool and refreshing, it keeps the drink from tipping into sugar-rush territory too quickly. (You’ll get there eventually, but that’s neither here nor there.) Mint isn’t everyone’s thing, but if you enjoy it, this is one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos to try.

14. Café Vanilla

You may be surprised to see vanilla pop back up on this list of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos after our uber-dramatic lament about the melting time of the Vanilla Crème flavor, but here we are.

Coffee and vanilla are a great combination, and both flavors come through in full force here. Plus, that caffeine might make you drink it a little faster… so you won’t have to watch one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos melt before its time.

13. Mocha Cookie Crumble

With less going on than you might expect, Mocha Cookie Crumble isn’t one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos. Sure, it’s chocolatey, and few drinks will give you the jolt of energy that this one does.

But there’s not much of the titular cookie in this drink, and what you’re left with is… well, basically a plain chocolate frap that promised to be something more.

There’s no denying that this is a tasty drink. But we suspect that anyone ordering this was hoping for a little more excitement than this Frappuccino provides. Ironically, the crème version of this drink, which leans into its milkshake-like traits, is quite a bit stronger.

12. Caramel Brûlée Crème

Caramel-based fraps tend to be some of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos in the Crème lineup. There’s something about ultra-sweet-yet-salty caramel that just works in a straight-up sweet drink, and Caramel Brûlée is no exception.

There’s plenty of caramel among the best Starbucks Frappuccino flavors, but only this one aims for the taste of caramelized sugar. Trust us: it doesn’t need coffee to be worth the order.

11. Peppermint Mocha

Another Starbucks holiday menu classic, no one will be surprised to find Peppermint Mocha listed among the best Starbucks Frappuccinos. While it’s definitely catering to a more niche market than most, it avoids being overwhelmingly sweet and tastes like the holiday season in a cup.

10. Sugar Cookie Almond Milk

While it’s undeniable that this Frappuccino is intensely sweet, the nuttiness of the almond milk goes a long way towards balancing its flavor profile. What results is a delightful dessert-in-a-cup coffee that’s worth a shot even if you don’t think it’ll be your thing. If you’re looking for dedicated dairy-free options, it’s the best Starbucks Frappuccino out there.

9. Firework

This pale blue Frappuccino with bright red strawberry purée had us skeptical at first glance, but the reviews are in, and they’re glowing. Off-the-wall seasonal flavors don’t tend to be the best Starbucks Frappuccinos, but there’s a first time for everything.

Combining the Summer Berry Refresher base with vanilla cream and strawberry purée, it’s a fresh new Starbucks summer drinks menu item that livens up the lineup with a splash. It’s a Fourth of July exclusive and disappears in the week around the holiday, but if it's available again, it’s one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos you can order.

8. Chai Crème

With its warm spice and delicate flavor profile, chai is an inspired choice for a Frappuccino, and it makes for a lovely drink that adds something truly novel to the menu. This is one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos in the Crème category, sure, but it holds its own overall, too, and is a format of chai you likely won’t find anywhere else.

7. Caramel Crème

You know how we mentioned that caramel flavors often work better without the coffee? Yeah, this is why. Thanks to its timeless salted caramel taste, it’s the unabashedly dessert-worthy Crème version of Caramel that rises through the ranks of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos.

6. Double Chocolatey Chip Crème

Look, this isn’t your Monday morning pre-work drink. (We hope.) It’s not something you order for the caffeine (there’s barely any) or any other ostensible benefit except your own enjoyment. And yes, there’s no denying that it’s a go-to order among Starbucks’ youngest fans, and hardly in favor with the commuter set.

But really, who can resist a chocolate milkshake à la Starbs?

Double Chocolate Chip Crème is as playful and over-the-top as its name suggests. It’s also one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos money can buy.

5. Caramel Brûlée

See above for our review of the Crème version, because all of the same compliments apply. So why is Caramel Brûlée ranked a whopping seven spots higher? Well, mostly because of its better balance of flavors.

Even the most diehard caramel lover will admit that a good caramel treat needs something to take the sweet edge off, and while that’s typically salt, coffee (which is missing from the Crème version) will also do the trick. That extra nuance makes this one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos.

4. Chocolate Cookie Crumble Crème

For all that we bagged on a handful of the flavors on this list for resembling a milkshake more than a coffee drink, we’re not opposed to the idea if it’s executed well.

We definitely don’t hate fun around here. And that’s exactly what this flavor is, which is what elevates it to the top-five ranks on this list of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos.

If you order this, you know what you’re getting into. You aren’t expecting anything subtle, nor do you want caffeine. And if that’s where you’re at, this deliciously decadent chocolate flavor, with chocolate cookie crumbs on top, is perfect.

Barring one other flavor we’ll get to in a second, it’s the best Starbucks Frappuccino for chocolate lovers.

3. Strawberry Crème

The sweetest of sweet Starbucks drinks is everything a Frappuccino gets panned for: it’s overwhelmingly sweet, more like a milkshake than an iced coffee — and to add insult to injury, there’s no coffee at all.

The Strawberry Crème Frappuccino absolutely should not work. That it does at all, let alone well, is enough to catapult it into the top three on our list of the best Starbucks Frappuccino flavors.

This fruity, creamy delight is every bit the pseudo-milkshake you’d hope for. Is the lack of coffee really an issue? We’d vote ‘no,’ because let’s face it: if you were looking for a caffeine hit, you wouldn’t order this.

No coffee-free Frappuccino flavor works half this well, and as far as Starbucks drinks without caffeine go, you would be hard-pressed to find anything as enjoyable as this drink. Swallow your pride — there’s no shame in walking around with a pink drink piled high with whipped cream when it’s this tasty.

2. Mocha

There’s a reason that those wildly complicated drinks on the secret menu never advance to main-menu status: the best Starbucks Frappuccinos are almost always the simplest.

There’s almost no better example of this than the elegantly straightforward Mocha Frappuccino. We’re not sure if we were the only kids who inexplicably grew up believing that coffee tasted like chocolate, but we were onto something.

Chocolate and coffee are a proven combination, each heightening the flavor of the other and adding a layer of richness and nuance that serves this second-best Starbucks Frappuccino very well. And those are the only flavors here, so you know exactly what you’re going to get.

It may not be the buzziest, but a Mocha Frappuccino will never let you down. The best Starbucks orders aren’t always the flashiest, and this flavor is empirical proof.

1. Espresso

Okay, we know what you’re probably thinking: “sophisticated” and “Frappuccino” don’t belong in the same sentence. They sure don’t — but if you’re looking for a glorious pseudo-milkshake that cuts calories, makes you sound a little more adult than a good old Caramel Crème, and ranks among the most caffeinated drinks at Starbucks, the Espresso Frappuccino is what you’re after.

An Espresso Frappuccino is a drink without the loads of sugar we’ve come to expect from this beverage category. It’s one of the best Starbucks Frappuccinos — many would argue the best Starbucks Frappuccino — purely by virtue of that fact.

But what sells us is its balance: it’s surprisingly sleek, while still maintaining the richness and sweetness that all the best Starbucks Frappuccinos bring to the table.

It’s not only the best Starbucks Frappuccino to many, but among the best cold coffees at Starbucks, too. If you’re in it for the coffee and not the flavored syrups, this is it: your search ends here.

What Is the Best Frappuccino at Starbucks?

Mileage may vary, but among coffee lovers, Espresso and Mocha get almost nothing but overwhelmingly positive reviews. Their simple and balanced flavors lead many to assert that they’re the best Starbucks Frappuccinos.

And while Strawberry Crème is our personal favorite among the coffee-free flavors, many fans also argue that Caramel or Chocolate Cookie Crumble is the best Starbucks Frappuccino among the Crème options.

Ultimately, the best Starbucks Frappuccino will depend on your own taste preferences. So, try those from this guide that sound tempting and find your perfect flavor!

Different flavors of Starbucks Frappuccinos

From the best Starbucks Frappuccino to the one we ranked dead last, every flavor of iced coffee at this caffeine juggernaut has its passionate defenders. If you frequent Starbucks, you’re likely one of them for at least one Frappuccino of choice.

So it pays to take word of mouth on this topic with a grain of salt. But if you’re weighing your options when it comes to Starbucks’ sweetest drink, these best Starbucks Frappuccinos likely won’t steer you wrong.
