WHAT YOU’LL DO
Learn to prepare authentic gumbo, Creole-style!
In this Creole cooking class, Chef Tené will teach you to prepare the classic shrimp and sausage stew, gumbo. Starting with a brown roux (the Chef will teach you the difference between a brown and white roux), you'll build your gumbo from the bottom up. You'll also learn standard accompaniments for the gumbo, and will prepare an herb butter to enjoy with traditional French bread.
Chef Tené will be happy to tell you a bit of background about each of the dishes, as well as the history of the West Adams district in which she lives and teaches.

She then shares all the secrets of Southern Fried Chicken and candied yams with such grace and kindness that you wish the evening would never end.
