Chef Shan will teach you how to prepare several ancient vegetarian Indian dishes.

Some may think of vegetarian cuisine as something new, but India was far ahead of the game, and has many traditional vegetarian dishes. Chef Shan will teach you how to make a handful of these favorite dishes from scratch.

Begin the meal with a classic savory Indian hors d'oeuvre, chaat, followed by lentil soup. For the main course, you'll prepare a hearty mattar paneer accompanied by rice pulao. Then, learn how to make two classic condiments to go with the meal: a yogurt sauce, and mint chutney. For dessert, you'll make shrikhand, a yogurt-based pudding with pomegranate.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

What an experience! Chef Shan was not only welcoming in her home but also happy to tell us about her life and we felt so welcome and cared for the entire time. We learned some secrets to an Indian cooking we have never heard of from any of the many recipes or other cookbooks we have read. She went over techniques, options, and how to make the cuisine work for you. What a treat!
