Cooking Class - African Soul Food Fusion

Discover the history of Gullah Geechee cuisine — the little known food culture shaping Southern cooking today.

In this hands-on class with Chef Pamela, you'll learn all about the history of Gullah Geechee cuisine and how it is rising to prominence and shaping Southern cooking today as you prepare a four-course Gullah menu from scratch.

After beginning with the "Official Snack of South Carolina," you will learn how to prepare a low country boil teeming with sausage and shrimp. You can also look forward to preparing delicately fried catfish fillets seasoned to perfection, homemade cornbread, and blackberry dumplings for dessert. Vegetarian options are available for all courses.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

If I could rate Chef Pamela 100 stars, I would! Not only was she informative, but she was so warm, encouraging and passionate about her craft. Her energy alone deserves the highest rating, but the FOOD. Wow. The ingredients all seemed simple enough but the way she put everything together was out of this world. If you had any reservations about booking, treat yourself and book with Chef Pamela. Thank you for what you do Pamela!!

Chef Pamela’s love for cooking began at a young age. With two working parents and as the eldest of four, she was responsible for all meal preparation. Chef Pamela’s love for cooking continued to grow and after much encouragement from family and friends, she started her own catering business. She named the business after her great-grandmother, and has adopted her great-grandmother’s mantra: Let me love you with my food!
