She then received the prestigious Julia Child Scholarship and her new culinary career blossomed. My wife and I had a lovely date night with our friends at Lauren’s house. First off, her house is amazing and her kitchen is so large and open, we all had the room we needed to participate in cooking. Her dining room has a beautiful round natural wood table that seats up to ten people - so if you fear dining at a college kid’s apartment, you will be pleasantly surprised. When my wife first mentioned eating at someone else’s house, I honestly wasn’t that comfortable but Laure made us feel relaxed and welcome right away, starting with a homemade ginger drink she greeted us with at the door. We had music playing per our request and the atmosphere really helped both couples to engage and have fun. We made a NY sirloin with cross hatch marks, smashed roasted red potatoes and the best chocolate cake I have ever eaten. Lauren also had some appetizers waiting for us so we could eat while cooking. Lauren did a great job of teaching us proper technique and knife skills. Most importantly, we had a blast and my wife and I did something other than a dinner out and a movie. I would highly recommend this experience, we will never forget our evening and next time we are in town, we are definitely making a date night at Lauren’s house again.

We had such a nice time at Lauren’s house. We felt so welcomed and the vibe was so relaxed and hospitable. Lauren was a great instructor, very patient, very informative and demonstrated each step clearly. My girlfriends and I made a delicious summer tomato and onion tart with a farmer’s market salad and an out-of-this world rhubarb and strawberry pudding cake - everything was exceptional. Best part, I was able to replicate this menu for my husband who was shocked I didn’t secretly buy everything from a five-star restaurant. We can’t wait to do this again, it was a great girls’ retreat
