Shelby Slavik is a writer, marketer, storyteller and former food service professional. After nearly a decade in the restaurant industry, she transitioned to corporate life and now works as an in-house copywriter for a multi-billion-dollar hospitality group. 

She is also a contributing writer for the luxury lifestyle publication, Select Life Magazine, and is responsible for backend content management of the digital publication. She has additionally authored food stories for Chowhound and worked in social media management for local restaurants in the Houston and Austin areas.  

Shelby is currently residing in Houston, which is, in her opinion, the best food city in the world. She is passionate about exploring innovative cuisine and amplifying emerging culinary voices. Her work is driven by a lifelong love of food and a curiosity about the people and ideas shaping how we eat. Her expertise includes fine dining, bars and mixology, and home baking. 

A native of Texas, Shelby is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and the Moody College of Communication with a bachelor's in Journalism.
