What You'll Do

Make your own broth, dipping sauces and personal hot pot across Chinese, Japanese and Thai traditions.

Embark on a flavorful journey across Asia in this hands-on cooking class dedicated to hot pot – one of the continent's most beloved communal dining traditions. Guided by Chef Li, you'll prepare authentic broths, craft signature dipping sauces and learn the techniques for cooking a vibrant assortment of premium meats, seafood, vegetables and noodles.

Along the way, Chef Li shares the history, culture and regional traditions behind Chinese, Japanese and Thai hot pot, bringing each cuisine to life through stories and authentic technique. What makes this experience truly special is that each guest enjoys their own beautifully handcrafted individual hot pot – rarely found in the Washington, D.C. area and uncommon even across the U.S. Each guest selects one of four signature broths and cooks at their own pace, before the meal ends with a silky matcha coconut panna cotta finished with a dusting of premium Japanese matcha. Chef Li was so great! She taught us the entire process for soup dumplings...from making to dumpling dough, to the filling, to the soup. She was very attentive and I learned so much about technique and purpose. Highly recommend!!

We had a wonderful experience learning how to make soup dumplings, hot and sour egg drop soup and smashed cucumber salad! Chef Li was so welcoming and engaging! We enjoyed talking to the other guests as well. I would definitely do another class with Chef Li!
