Cooking Class - Advanced Sushi Methods
Learn advanced sushi-making techniques to prepare traditional Japanese dishes.
In this hands-on class with Chef Gilzel, you'll focus on advanced sushi-making techniques as you bring four Japanese recipes to life using high-quality ingredients and a variety of fresh fish.
Explore several ways to prepare sushi as you slice and dice ingredients for nigiri, sashimi, maki and a chirashi bowl using tuna, salmon, sea bass, avocado, cucumber and radishes. Chef Gilzel will teach you the difference in knife cuts and how it affects consumption. End with a beautifully pan-seared sea bass with sesame soy broth, green onions, mushrooms, carrots and radishes.
Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

This was awesome! My husband and I had been wanting to do one of these forever and we are so glad Chef Gilzel opened her home to us! All the ingredients were extremely fresh and the finished product looked like it came from a magazine.

So fun and informative! Lots of knowledge packed into a dynamo young Sushi chef. 2 1/2 hours of intense sushi making from knife work, to roll and nigiri, with in-depth, but easy to follow, step by step instructions and lots of hands on. She worked really well with my 12 year old grandson and guided his knife work extremely closely, safety always came first. A great first time cooking class for both of us! Highly recommended Gilzel!

Oh OK all the class was very enjoyable the only thing I would have liked was for the students to have more hands-on of the process of making the rolls And would have liked some written recipes or written down sources of where we could buy the raw materials to make our own sushi this was really a very beginners class and I would have liked more time with hands on making of the sushi rolls.

After graduating with degrees in culinary arts and food service management, Chef Gilzel began her career as a sushi chef at a modern, high-end Japanese restaurant. She has since worked in several renowned restaurant kitchens, most recently as the sous chef of a globally inspired raw bar in a five-star Las Vegas resort.
