Join Chef Gustavo as you expand your culinary repertoire with authentic Peruvian flavors

Chef Gustavo has a wealth of culinary knowledge that he is ready to share with you. Join him in the kitchen where he will showcase a variety of traditional Peruvian flavors and teach you how to integrate classic Peruvian ingredients into spectacular dishes full of exciting flavors.

Craft refreshing ceviche featuring fish of the day and spicy Habanero peppers, grill octopus to perfection and serve it with a tangy Kalamata olive aioli, and create one of Peru's most popular dishes: Lomo saltado, juicy flank steak stir-fried with a variety of vegetables and spices.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Latin American cuisine is what Chef Gustavo is all about. As the owner and executive chef of Rumba Café in Adams Morgan for 20 years, he understands this cuisine more than anything else. He draws his inspiration from his own travels through Latin America, the Caribbean, France, Spain and more. He studied at L’ Academie de Cuisine and is knowledgeable in French cuisine as well. He is available to teach classes in both English and Spanish.

This was my 2nd time with Chef Gustavo. He always puts on a unique experience that is unforgettable. I love that we learn so much about the history and culture of the dishes we're making, and his dishes are approachable and ones I will make at home. His kind, welcoming personality makes it so great.

Our class with Chef Gustavo was a WONDERFUL experience. He is so kind and welcoming! Notably, I also am a symptomatic celiac and was really reaffirmed when he re-confirmed dietary restrictions and allergies day-of. Only one dish needed a slight modification and he did so thoughtfully and with ease. All of the food we made in the class was delicious and easy enough to replicate at home (with much thanks to Chef Gustavo)! I recommend everyone to take this class but especially folks who are gluten sensitive or Celiac - this one is a great one!
