Latin American cuisine is what Chef Gustavo is all about. As the owner and executive chef of Rumba Café in Adams Morgan for 20 years, he understands this cuisine more than anything else. He draws his inspiration from his own travels through Latin America, the Caribbean, France, Spain and more. He studied at L’ Academie de Cuisine and is knowledgeable in French cuisine as well. He is available to teach classes in both English and Spanish.

Chef Gustavo is very patient and enjoys teaching. This class was devoted to Chilean food. I really appreciated the instruction on how to slice and dice bell peppers and garlic. There is no waste of the veggies if you do it his way. We learned how to stuff mussels with cheese and sausages, cook and mash corn, saute peppers and onions, put all of this together and mix in raw ground beef. The dessert was a delicious Leche Nevada--vanilla pudding like--that reminded me of my childhood, decades ago!

Chef Gustavo was great! He showed us plenty of great cooking techniques that we could use at home, shared delicious recipes, and most of all reminded us that home cooking is all about comfort!
