Booked the class Mushroom Lovers Menu with Chef Laura in Silver Spring

What a fun night! Chef Laura was an excellent teacher and host. We honed our knife skills chopping up veggies for the soup, stuffed mushrooms, and sauce. We learned all about different types of mushrooms and how to clean and cook them. So many things to learn! And in the end, the meal was delicious and we had plenty of leftovers to take home along with the recipes. (My mother-in-law was also pleased that she and Chef Laura attended the same university... LOL.)

We loved Chef Laura’s mushroom lovers class. The food was delicious and we learned great tips and tricks (including some useful knife skills). She printed the recipes out for us at the end so we could recreate the meal. Chef Laura was kind, encouraging, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

The cooking class that I participated in in DC was fantastic! It felt more like a dinner party with a professional chef preparing dinner for us. The class had a very relaxed and friendly environment and we were able to get involved in the preparation process as much as we liked. I'd recommend these cooking classes, especially for a smallish dinner party or a date night :-)

I'm still thinking of the beef and mushroom we had in Chef Laura's cooking class during our trip to Washington, DC. Laura is a very experienced and super nice chef. She knows a lot, can explains things well and can really help you make delicious dishes (as she demonstrated in the case of the beef with mushrooms) that are much better than the food in almost all restaurants. I also like her style of cooking which is low in fat and rather healthy especially for a red meat dish. The mushroom soup also turned out to be delicious although maybe a little bit too salty - but don't worry, you can always make the stock thinner as the chef explained ;)

I am extremely picky about salads, a good salad needs to be crunchy and flavorful and fresh and varied. It should have balanced flavors and leave you wanting another bite. Chef Laura's salads are miraculous. They are symphonies of harmonious flavors that combine in the most amazing ways. Sweet mango, crunchy Jicama and peanuts in an Vietnamese-style dressing. She easily demonstrates how to combine fresh ingredients to make mouthwatering salads but also shares her secrets for simple techniques like chopping and knifework. Highly recommended.
