Online Cooking Class - Popular Thai Street Food

Take a bite out of a classic and authentic Thai street food dish: Pad Gaprao.

In this live online cooking class with Chef Lisa, you'll learn how to make pad gaprao, which some proclaim as the all-time favorite food on the streets of Thailand. Pad gaprao is a savory and hearty dish of ground meat stir fried with Thai chilies, basil and vegetables and served over rice — in this case, baked basmati rice.

Prep Work Details

Have the rice measured out. Chop the right number of chilies for you and your palate. Thai bird chilies are not as hot as a habanero, but still much hotter than a common jalapeño. Chilies can also be placed on the side. Smash and mince your garlic. Reserve. Combine all the ingredients for the sauce. Reserve. Clean off the stem of the green bean, cut into bite-size pieces. Reserve. Separate basil leaves from the stem. Reserve. Measure the water for the rice and bring it to a very low, gentle simmer.
