Chef Shailini was born in Nepal, and with her father being a well-known diplomat, the family lived all over the world. A life long educator, Chef Shailini taught at both Boston University and Northeastern University earlier in her career, and while she enjoyed that a great deal, she is currently living her true passion at several well-known Boston institutions teaching people how to cook food that is both nutritious and delicious. Chef Shailini was an amazing teacher and host, and we had a great night with great food. From the moment my fiancée and I walked into her home, she made us feel welcome and comfortable, even with no prior cooking experience. Chef Shalini showed us the right techniques and shared her favorite brands to look for when cooking at home. She also told many entertaining stories that kept everyone laughing while we cooked. We made seven dishes and everything was delicious. After the class, she gave us all the recipes and ingredients, and we can’t wait to try making everything again at home. Overall, it was a wonderful experience - we highly recommend Shalini and hope to take another class with her in the future.

My boyfriend and I took this class for our one year anniversary and had such a lovely evening. Chef Shailini went above and beyond to make this experience special, including an extended menu, beautiful china, and accommodating my dietary restrictions! If you love Indian/Nepalese food, meeting new people, and hands on learning this class is for you.

This was my second class with Chef Shailini, and it confirmed why I came back. The menu—Kachumbar, Aloo Gobi Mataar, Chicken Tikka Masala, Raita, Dhania Chutney, Saffron Pulao, and Kheer—hit all the “restaurant favorite” notes, but the real value was learning the how behind each dish. Shailini had everything organized, explained the purpose of each spice, and showed simple techniques that raised our confidence: how to bloom spices properly, build a bright chutney, and get tender chicken without drying it out. The pacing was perfect—hands-on without feeling rushed—and she offered considered spice heat levels. As in my first class with her, the setting was warm and welcoming; everyone felt comfortable asking questions and tasting along the way. I cannot wait to receive the recipes and attempt to try like what I did after the first class. If you’re curious about Indian cooking (beginner or returning student), this class delivers: practical skills, great flavors, and a host who truly cares about teaching. Highly recommended. — Han Chang
