In this hands-on class with Chef Ahki, you will learn how to prepare an authentic Jamaican menu using both familiar and exotic ingredients and flavor profiles, time-honored Jamaican recipes, and easy-to-master cooking techniques.
Some of the authentic Jamaican recipes and dishes you can look forward to creating in this class with Chef Ahki include perfectly fried plantains, a Jamaican jerk chicken entrée that packs a wallop of herby, fiery, and tangy flavors unlike anything else, a banana cream parfait with a homemade praline crumble for dessert.
Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Chef Ahki has a deliciously innovative style that is truly original. The way he combines flavor profiles is something you must experience first hand. Not only does he know what he’s doing in the kitchen, he also knows how to deliver it to the table. I had such a great time learning from him! You can tell he loves to feed people, and it shows in the food he makes. What a treat!
Meet your chef
After earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Chef Ahki changed tracks and decided to forgo medical school to pursue a professional career as a chef. Although a self-taught culinarian, Chef Ahki graduated from line cook to sous chef in less than two years. Today, Chef Ahki is the sous chef at a four-star hotel in New Orleans, and plays host to a variety of interactive culinary experiences.
