Learn the basics of Big Easy cooking with fresh seafood in this flavor-forward culinary experience.
In this hands-on class with Chef Ahki, you will learn how to prepare a three-course menu using fresh, high-quality ingredients and seafood, as well as time-honored recipes and flavors that epitomize the Big Easy.
Chef Ahki will begin by teaching you how to poach oysters in a homemade garlic butter white wine sauce. Then, you will learn how to build layers of flavor in a New Orleans-style BBQ shrimp and grits with Gouda cheese before ending on a sweet note with white chocolate and rum bread pudding for dessert.
Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Chef Ahki has a deliciously innovative style that is truly original. The way he combines flavor profiles is something you must experience first hand. Not only does he know what he’s doing in the kitchen, he also knows how to deliver it to the table. I had such a great time learning from him! You can tell he loves to feed people, and it shows in the food he makes. What a treat!
Meet your chef
After earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Chef Ahki changed tracks and decided to forgo medical school to pursue a professional career as a chef. Although a self-taught culinarian, Chef Ahki graduated from line cook to sous chef in less than two years. Today, Chef Ahki is the sous chef at a four-star hotel in New Orleans, and plays host to a variety of interactive culinary experiences.
