Chef Joni

We did a group cooking class with Joni last week and absolutely loved it! She let us help design the menu we wanted to learn to cook and when we arrived she had everything set up beautifully! The cooking process was a ton of fun and very informative. Joni is an excellent chef and a wonderful teacher! At the end of the cooking portion of our class got to sit down and enjoy our work, which turned out amazing! We can't wait to come back and learn to cook something else!!

We had the wonderful opportunity to enjoy a birthday gathering for a good friend and the treat was cooking with Joni! She shared how to make a number of Asian dishes and we specifically made fresh spring rolls. Joni makes everything seem so easy. She's passionate about food and wine, approachable, gives very clear directions and never makes you feel intimidated at all, especially for those of us who do not cook! It's a real treat to attend a class in her home. You feel as if you're in the kitchen of a Tuscan villa...warm, inviting and spacious. I am not comfortable in the kitchen, but aspire to be. I signed up for a knife skills class with Joni, and it was exactly what this aspiring chef needed to start building confidence in the kitchen. Joni is patient, hilarious, welcoming, and knows her stuff. She started at square one, teaching us how to do the basics easily and safely, explaining terminology, explaining what to look for when shopping for the perfect knife, and also taught us what to do with the odds and ends that are left over after a slicing and dicing session to minimize waste. The group (about eight of us) was friendly and we enjoyed some delicious tapas after all of our hard work. Just knowing how to wield my knife more efficiently has made me a more confident cook. I definitely plan on taking another class with Joni!

Spending time in the kitchen with Joni has been such a positive experience. I've attended the Tapas cooking class and the Knives 101 class and I know I'll be attending more. Joni is patient, knowledgeable, and a whole lot of fun! She has a gift for working with people who have different skill levels, which allows her to effortlessly guide them in preparing delicious food. Joni also provides you with material to take home with you so you can easily reference it when you're in your own kitchen. Her passion and flow is immense! Chef Joni is fantastic. Lucky enough to have stumbled upon her on a neighborhood blog right when I was looking for a chef who could host my daughter's cooking-themed birthday party. Once Joni and I connected, everything fell into place. Not only did she host a fantastic birthday party at her home for my daughter and 9 of her friends, but we then hired her to be our daughter's personal culinary "trainer" this summer! She's wonderful with kids, has a heart of gold, and is a fabulous chef. She was willing and able to customize Suzy's cooking classes to meet her needs (Suzy intends to audition for Top Chef Junior again this fall, so she had some very specific tricks she wanted to learn!!) Joni has helped Suz make some incredible dishes and learn some valuable skills in the kitchen. Chef Joni has become both a mentor and friend, and we could not be happier that we now have her in our lives. Joni offers amazing cooking classes, along with other types of classes. I took knives 101 & learned how to hold a knife properly, safety tips, different chopping methods and what are the most important tools to have. She was so kind & patient with all of us. After all the chopping a group of strangers ended up breaking bread together & having a magnificent afternoon filled with joy & laughter. I would highly recommend Joni!

I have had the opportunity to attend several of Joni's cooking classes and have always been delighted. Joni is a wonderful instructor and and does a great job explaining the recipes and demonstrating different cooking techniques. The menus are delicious and it is always such a fun event in her cozy kitchen. I am looking forward to attending more of her classes and would recommend her classes to all skill levels!
