WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THESE Food Tours in Washington, D.C.

great tour with Dana - thanks!

Not impressed. I’ve been on food tours all over the world and this was by far the worst. For $90 it was just a couple bites of food at each place. For example a piece of sushi. Not a roll. A piece. The guide walked so fast and was always about two blocks ahead of us. Don’t recommend.

FAQS ABOUT FOOD TOURS in Washington, D.C.
How do food tours in Washington, DC work?
Select a time and enter your guest count to book exciting food tours in Washington, D.C., and uncover its dynamic food scene. At a designated site, you’ll meet your local guide, who will lead you through exclusive tastings at four to six hand-picked restaurants and specialty shops. From sampling famous half-smokes and creative takes on classic comfort food to discovering innovative farm-to-table gems in neighborhoods like U Street, Georgetown, and Capitol Hill, each tour invites you to savor DC’s distinctive flavors. Over two to three hours, you’ll not only feast on delicious food but also meet the chefs shaping the Capital's ever-evolving culinary landscape.
Do food tours accommodate vegetarians or other dietary needs?
Many eating tours are happy to accommodate dietary restrictions with advance notice whenever possible. If you’re a vegetarian or have specific dietary needs, alternative options may be available during the tastings, but please note they aren’t guaranteed, as menus are planned ahead of time. Since food tours offer a distinct experience with a seasonal selection of local dishes, it’s a good idea to review the menu posted on the Food Tours page before booking to ensure you can fully savor each dish, drink, and culinary delight. If you have any questions or special requests, our Cozymeal concierge team is ready to assist and ensure your foodie tour is a perfect fit.
Are food tours family-friendly?
While culinary tours are a family-friendly way to explore the city’s vibrant food culture, there are a few things to consider before including small children. These walking tours typically last two to three hours, rain or shine. Your guide takes you through iconic DC neighborhoods like Georgetown, Mount Vernon Triangle, and Capitol Hill, with stops at four to six restaurants and hidden gems where you’ll indulge in generous tastings that highlight regional specialties, including local wines, craft brews, or cocktails. To ensure the tour suits your family’s needs, including kid-friendly options, check the details on each tour page or contact our Cozymeal concierge team with any questions.
How much do food tours cost?
The cost of foodie tours varies based on the experience you choose and the size of your group, making it easy to find the perfect fit for your budget and occasion. Each DC food tour page includes key details like the starting price per person, a sample menu, tour duration, and an introduction to your expert local guide so you know exactly what to expect. Prices generally start at $59 per person and can exceed $100 for more exclusive, high-end tastings. Once you select your preferred time and enter your guest count, the total will automatically update. Please contact the Cozymeal concierge team with your questions and special requests.
Is there enough to eat on the tour?
Since the best food tours serve up generous tastings, it’s wise to arrive hungry. Depending on your chosen tour, you’ll explore four to six acclaimed restaurants and hidden culinary gems, sampling dishes that reflect the Capital’s rich cultural diversity and bold culinary spirit. From authentic Neapolitan pizza and classic Chesapeake Bay crab cakes to Salvadoran street food and modern takes on Southern fare smothered in mumbo sauce, each stop offers a bite-sized journey through DC neighborhoods. Along the way, you might sip Virginia wines, taste local craft brews, or indulge in decadent confections curated by expert guides who’ll show you how to eat like a true Washingtonian.
What happens if there’s bad weather?
Culinary tours take place rain or shine, so unless you hear otherwise from your guide, your experience will proceed as planned. Be sure to check the local forecast and come prepared with comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, whether you're strolling through misty Georgetown streets or soaking up the sun in Eastern Market. If something comes up and you need to cancel or reschedule, please refer to the specific food tour page for details on the cancellation policy. Keep in mind that tours booked within 48 hours of the start time are non-refundable. For any questions about your booking or to make special arrangements, our Cozymeal concierge team is ready to assist.
How much do you tip the food tour guide?
Tipping on eating tours is not required, so you’re free to simply relax and savor the experience. The upfront price listed on each tour page includes the cost of the food and service for the carefully curated tastings and behind-the-scenes access arranged by your guide. That said, if your guide elevates the tour with engaging stories about DC’s rich culinary traditions, historic landmarks, and hidden neighborhood gems you can’t wait to try, a tip is a thoughtful way to show your appreciation. A gratuity of 10% to 25% of the final tour price is a generous and welcomed gesture.
Are food tours worth it?
Washington, D.C. food tours are absolutely worth it. They offer a delicious and immersive way to explore the city’s diverse culinary scene, from global street food to Michelin-starred favorites. As you walk through iconic neighborhoods like Georgetown or U Street, expert guides share fascinating stories about the city’s history, culture, and food traditions. You’ll enjoy generous tastings, often with behind-the-scenes access or chef meet-and-greets.
