Cooking Class - Mastering the Perfect Tonkatsu

Chef Shinya makes it so you don't have to fly to Tokyo for good tonkatsu!

Hailing from Japan, Chef Shinya knows how hard it is to find good tonkatsu — Japanese pork cutlet — in the U.S. In this hands-on class, Chef Shinya shares his professional expertise and trade techniques that are even kept a secret in Japan, so that you can make proper tonkatsu at home.

Chef Shinya explains every detail of preparing tonkatsu, including how to select the right pork, how to prepare the cut, and how to best enjoy it. You will also learn to make a simple salad, seaweed soup, and seasoned steamed rice.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Chef Shinya was fun and educational. He opens up his home for an intimate cooking and learning experience. I learned a lot about the dishes we were making and he made it seem so simple.
