Great class. Chef Devine was very knowledgeable and had a lot of good tips. Our tapas were fantastic, and our class mates were very nice and fun. We loved the class and will take others soon. This was a birthday present for my wife, and she enjoyed it a lot. My only mistake was booking it from Cozymeal instead of directly with Sur de Table. Cozymeal’s customer service is terrible, and they take about 3 days to respond to inquiries, if they ever respond.

Restaurant-Style Ramen
with Chef Megan
in Raleigh (North Hills)
My wife and I attended the Restaurant-style Ramen class hoping to take our home-made ramen to the next level. Everything we needed was laid out and pre-measured and the Chef instructed and assisted with patience and good humor. Our best take-away from the class was making the noodle dough and then rolling it out and slicing it with the Kitchenaid stand-mixer. We will now make our own (delicious) noodles with confidence. Pickling our mushrooms (which were added later to the ramen) was another favorite experience. Because the dashi, pork-belly, and broth was pre-prepared we will use the recipes that were emailed after the class to make these ingredients at home. Of course we ate our Ramen at the end of class (along with Yuzu mint soda!) and gave ourselves (and Cozymeal) an A+. Highly recommended!

We had a great time! It was a fun, different date night idea and the chef and team were very professional, engaging, and made the experience enjoyable.
That said, I do think it’s a little pricey for what’s included, especially considering that no drinks were provided, and this wasn’t communicated in advance. Since it was our first time, we didn’t know to bring anything to drink. It would be helpful if that was mentioned when booking.
Overall, a really nice evening — just a small detail that would make the experience even better!

The long and short is this class fell extremely short of expectations. The chef had never prepared Asian cuisine before, he had no idea what he was doing and he didn’t show or explain what he was doing so we spent most of the class asking what we were supposed to be doing. The helpers also provided little to no support and typically provided conflicting guidance. Please see the review posted via the QR code for details

We did not have Chef Megan. We had a young, male chef who was somewhat rude and hurried. He was so set on finishing at the 2 hour mark that our pasta was not even cooked when he returned it he rushed so much. He was too blunt with his critiques and somewhat snarky. When he showed us how to make bitter pasta and I asked if I could have small piece of his dough to try, as our was gone, he said, “no, you get what you get”. Seriously? I’m 59 years old and I need a child talking to me like that. I thought I was the customer and the purpose was to learn and have a pleasant experience. I learned what I went there for but his personality had a lot to be desired.

My experience was disappointing as a 4th person (a stranger) was added to our party of 3 (myself and the 2 friends I brought with me), without our consent or preference considered. This individual was controlling and criticized everything we did, which ruined the experience for us. She also ate from a spoon and put it back in the potato side dish while preparing it, so we all refused to eat that part of the meal. I probably wouldn’t mind eating after my friends, but a stranger putting a utensil in her mouth, then back in a shared dish (twice!) was completely inappropriate. I kindly asked her not to put her spoon in our food after it had been in her mouth. Her response was “I only did it twice”.
I very much regret spending money on this experience as a Christmas gift to my friends.

Restaurant Sushi Roll Romance - Date Night
with Chef Megan
in Raleigh (North Hills)
My husband and I wanted to do a cooking class for our 10th anniversary. We love sushi. We took a pasta making class together in Italy and I took a baking class back in NY. We were hoping for the same experience but it didn’t even come close. The “Chef” was at another table with our backs to him, he was confused about what we were making, he left us to try and figure it out on our own and only as a last option did he come over to help. He seemed more interested in the sales pitch to take more classes and shop than teaching us how to make sushi. Our class only had 4 people because 2 people didn’t show up, so you would think we would have gotten more one on one teaching. Wrong. He was more concerned about the class coming in after us. We ran out of tuna but he had all the tuna at his station that he made plus what the 2 people that didn’t show up would have used but he didn’t want to let us use any of it saying this is for the next class…
He never showed us how to make the traditional sushi roll with the rice on the outside he just talked about it.
We never received the email that had the recipes and directions either.
When we booked this they talked about a chef with over 20 years experience. We got a kid who “has worked in restaurants and went to culinary school and has been teaching classes for a year.”

This class was an absolutely horrible experience, and I will be reaching out to Cozymeal for a refund. The class was held in Raleigh, and the instructor, Mary Beth, was nasty from the moment we walked into the room. There were 14 students in the demonstration room, broken into groups of four (one group had two, with two no-shows). Mary Beth chose one or two groups to favor, and others to ignore. It was so bad that during the break, several attendees were discussing her attitude. She embarrassed one student when that person asked a question that Mary Beth had addressed earlier, and belittled her. She ignored my son and myself completely. I point blank asked for help at one point, and she told me to “figure it out.” She helped other groups improve their technique, and would walk by our group completely. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a cooking or baking class in my life. Horrible, horrible experience.

Amore From Italy - Date Night
with Chef Megan
in Raleigh (North Hills)
Hi Chef Megan - I dont believe we worked directly with you.....a couple of items for the low review. The head chef wasnt welcoming and very much felt like "welcome to bootcamp" with orders being yelled out and not the most friendly...we began the cooking experience at 7 pm and didnt end up eating until 9:45. Many of the preparation aspects were poorly timed and lead my wife and I being extremely hungry come time to eat. This was a beginner class and I hardly believe that this was a welcoming experience for new chefs looking to get excited about cooking given the time for preparation and the environment the head chef made for us. Needless to say, I will not be scheduling another meal with Cozymeal. There are many alternatives locally that have far greater reviews let alone have an earlier start for a more normal dining time. The food was fine however the environment created wasnt great.

The chef was truly skilled and the food was fantastic. However, we found the shared cooking pot and station with another couple to be a bit awkward. Rotating through the steps with four people significantly reduced the hands-on learning and made it difficult to fully engage with the instructions. We believe the experience would be greatly enhanced if each couple had their own cooking setup, allowing for a more personal and immersive experience.

I booked a Cooking class with my schizophrenic son who just got out of treatment and this was his gift for doing so well. Dealing with a grown man with this disease is hard enough but then I got the dates mixed up for this lunch and called 2 different people to explain my situation and no one would help. I booked for a party of 4 and almost $400 gone with no one caring enough to help me. I just got sorry your out of luck and absolutely no returns. It would be great to speak with someone about our situation and if I can do anything to get back $400 that we desperately need back because we are supporting an adult child with mental issues.

The food wasn't bad. After all I did make it lol. But, I asked for new dumpling wraps (5 of them) because mine were literally TOSSED on the table in front of me (instead of the cutting board) like everyone else's (mind you we had just been dealing with raw ground beef and no- one had wiped the tables) and I was INTERROGATED about why I wanted new wraps. It was very embarrassing. Like a teacher calling out a student in front of the classroom. The chef then said she would reuse them because the table wasn't that dirty. So, be forewarned.

I really wish the chef took more time helping out everyone. The work space was very small so we didn’t have all items needed on work place. We had to work with another couple. This was my first experience at a cooking class. Our chef was very friendly and informative. I was not pleased that we felt rushed towards the end of the evening. We were also told that we couldn’t take any of the leftover food (there was a lot) home with us and that usually the staff share it.

The food was good. The class was meh. I really wish there were those large mirrors so that we could see the chef demonstrating what to do; instead she just told us to chop the veggies and went around helping individual people as needed. She would demonstrate something using one couple's ingredients but those across the room couldn't really see what she was doing. It was fun, but I probably wouldn't do it again. Also she said we would get the recipes via email and we never did.

We enjoyed our experience but we're disappointed about some things. We felt very rushed at the end and it had not even been 2 hrs. We understood it could be up to 2 and a half hours. We also had a lot of food left because we were rushed and asked if we could take our food to go. We were told no. The nicest restaurants in the world let you take your food. We were also told it included dessert, but there was no dessert.
