Cooking Class - 5-Day Foodie Fun Kids: Baking Basics - Carlsbad

What You’ll Do

Spend a week learning the basics of baking.

Treat your budding chefs to a fun and interactive cooking series focused on the skills needed to prepare delicious baked items. These summer cooking classes are designed for ages 7-11. Over the course of a week, young foodies will learn essential kitchen safety skills, proper measuring techniques and basic food prep skills. They'll have fun while flipping pancakes, kneading dough, frying eggs, filling croissants or decorating cakes and cookies. Students will take home with a printed menu and a graduation certificate.

Classes typically run for two to two and a half hours, unless specified otherwise. Group work is a key component; kids can expect to collaborate with four other students. The class involves standing, cooking and active participation throughout. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required and long hair should be securely tied back for safety. Please note that these are drop-off classes. Parents do not stay during the classes.

We felt the overall class went well. My only complain would be for the price we paid per person, I was surprised we had to work as teams of 4. The cost of class was enough to cover ingredients for each person and not have to share with three other people.

Chef L. J was great. Making macarons is very complex, and while it was a bit rushed at times and hard to follow the instructions, we were still able to finish in about 3 hours.
