Learn the history and techniques behind different styles of sushi with Chef Josh.
For many, the thought of making sushi from scratch may be daunting, but in this hands-on cooking class with Chef Josh, you will learn how approachable sushi is, and master a few tips to make your own sushi at home.
A few of the authentic sushi recipes you can look forward to making in this class include miso soup with kombu and scallions, vegetable hosomaki with rice, nori, cucumber and avocado, and ahi makizushi with rice, nori, avocado, cucumber and scallions. Finish the evening with rich custard matcha ice cream for dessert.
Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Josh is very personable and makes you feel right at home. He can answer any question you throw his way, and pays very close attention to reducing food waste. His food is delicious; you'll want him to cook for you every night!

Chef Josh's food creations are amazing! Not only can you see the artistic care he puts into each meal, but you can also taste it. It's clear that he knows what he is doing when it comes to preparing and cooking all kinds of food. He's also great at explaining what he is doing, so you'll be able to take what you learn and use it the next time you cook on your own.

Chef Josh made me feel very welcomed in his home from the moment I stepped through the door. His attention to detail in his food is very apparent, you can tell he loves what he does and enjoys passing that knowledge on to others.
Meet your chef
Originally from San Francisco, Chef Josh has traveled all over the country and the world to further hone his craft and become adept in a variety of cuisines. He worked under master chefs in France, spent two years as a live-in chef for a family in Argentina, and learned sushi making from the Bay Area’s best. Chef Josh also started his own catering company and has donned many executive chef hats along the way.
