Cooking Class - Basic Cooking Series

Classes to get you started in the kitchen.

The basic cooking series consists of Wednesday cooking classes providing you enough information and hands on cooking to get you feeling more comfortable in the kitchen.

We'll talk about setting things up for efficiency and ease of use. We'll try different preparation and cooking techniques so you can figure out what works for you. And we'll make food all along the way so you can gain the confidence needed to start making dinner at home. At the end of the class, we will all sit down and enjoy the meal we prepared.

Each 3-hour cooking class session is $75, if you book all three sessions, you pay only $200 in total.

Chef Douglas made us feel welcome the moment we stepped in his door. I've received positive feedback from all members of my team. He not only taught us about Spanish cuisine and encouraged us to jump in on any task, but also entertained us with food facts and stories of his cooking journey. I highly recommend anyone to learn and dine with Chef Douglas, and I will try to come back as well!

I wanted to give you feedback from our event with Chef Douglas on Saturday evening, January 9th. In addition to me and my husband, we had two other couples join us. From the moment we walked into Chef Douglas' beautiful home, we loved the evening. Chef Douglas was a gracious host, well-prepared (i.e. doing time-consuming activities in advance), and a great teacher. He calmly and patiently explained the menu, had copies for us, cutting boards set up, aprons and towels available. The meal itself was delicious! Between the six of us, we had brought several bottles of wine, which Chef Douglas had recommended. It was a wonderful experience, a great menu, an excellent chef and teacher. The meal was delicious. I learned some techniques and recipes to apply outside of the class. Chef Douglas was welcoming and created a friendly atmosphere for the class. If you're an avid cool and want a new experience, I would recommend it. If you've never cooked before in your life, is recommend it even more.

I have over 30 years of professional restaurant and cooking experience, ranging from traditional French cuisine to organic vegetarian food. I had the good fortune to study with the founders of the French Laundry for ten years which helped create my philosophy about food. I believe food should be delicious, accessible, and straightforward to create. All my classes are designed to showcase a meal students can go home and create for a dinner party or for friends.
