Cooking Class - Homemade Challah and Matzo Balls

Learn the secrets to preparing handmade challah, homemade matzo balls, and more with Chef Marcia.

In this hands-on class with Chef Marcia, you will learn how to prepare an impressive four-course dinner menu using fresh, high-quality ingredients and time-honored Jewish cooking techniques.

Chef Marcia will begin by teaching you how to braid your own loaf of challah bread speckled with poppy seeds as well as how to make matzo balls for a soul-warming chicken soup. You can also look forward learning how to prepare a simple and flavorful lemon Parmesan chicken entrée, crave-worthy roasted vegetables, and a show-stopping caramel apple pie for dessert.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

I enjoyed Chef Marcia's class and getting to know her and hear about her family and experiences. She has spent a lot of time making pies and it shows - the apple pie was gorgeous (and delicious) with a perfect crust. Also one of my Jewish favorites, potato latkes were perfect with crispy edges and the right amount of onion flavor. Served with homemade applesauce and sour cream, they were the best! I think anyone could make and enjoy these after learning from Chef Marcia.

We really enjoyed our experience with Chef Marcia. I would highly recommend taking a class with her. She was fun and exceptionally knowledgeable. Baking can be intimidating for some folks and she makes it approachable and stress free! This is a wonderful gift to share with someone, as it is for the novice or the experienced cook. We look forward to seeing what other classes she offers in the future. This is something we will definitely be doing again. We learned so many tips and tricks! Thank you for sharing your talents!

Chef Marcia was truly wonderful in teaching us the art of pie making as well as lentil soup! We loved hearing about her experiences and her passion in baking! She is very welcoming and warm, and she definitely was interested to hear your story! After many years of working as an educator in a variety of professional roles, Chef Marcia decided to change career paths in 2000 and follow her passion for baking. She began baking pies out of her house and selling at farmers' markets and selling wholesale to coffee shops. In 2008, she took a job as a full-time pastry chef to further hone her craft before eventually starting a very successful pie and catering business.
