Chef was ok. But setup was terrible. Not worth $75 a person. Not worth $7.50 a person.

I purchased this as a Christmas present to my husband and was really looking forward to what sounded like such a fun date night. We're both sushi lovers and perhaps, for that reason, had higher expectations? A sequence of things disappointed both of us. Firstly, the physical space: the combination of small round bar tables in a relatively dark room with loud music was inadequate. We didn't learn any "secrets to perfectly seasoned sushi rice" or "expert techniques to roll your sushi like a pro" (and if the chef shared the info, we didn't hear it because the music was probably too loud). The event was advertised as a 2-hr duration, but the class was officially over after 70 minutes and we were invited to "socialize" afterwards. We crafted 3 very small, sad looking sushi rolls and instead of socializing, we left and went to the nearest restaurant to eat dinner. We liked Chef Dix – very personable and funny, but I wish I had learned more about actual sushi making. I would have loved giving this 5 stars and have as much fun as the two ladies sitting next to us that evening, but honestly, the combo of the little events just made the experience not as worthy as expected. I'm aware that you pay for the experience, but if I were you, I would spend $160 at a fine, legit sushi place.
