Online Cooking Class - Dim Sum Brunch

Munch your way through a gourmet brunch with flavorful morsels of dim sum.

Dim sum, a traditional meal of bite-sized morsels, is a leisurely way to brunch that can easily stretch into the afternoon. In this live online cooking class with Chef Li, you'll learn how to build your own dim sum brunch at home.

Begin with char siu pork buns. Then, prepare Cantonese-style spring rolls filled with shiitake mushrooms and Napa cabbage. You'll also learn to prepare kailan—Chinese broccoli—with soy sauce.

Prep Work Details

Prepare the 'starter' for the char siu bun dough the night before class. Although active working time only takes 5 minutes, it needs to be prepared 8 to 12 hours ahead of time. Use a kitchen scale to pre-measure all the ingredients, especially flour and sugar. If your spring rolls package is frozen, let it sit at room temperature for about 30 mins prior to the start of class. Shred the Napa cabbage. Thinly slice the carrots. Rehydrate the dried shiitake mushrooms and thinly slice. Dice-cut the pork belly. Mince the shallots.
