Cooking Class - Foundations of French Pastry

Learn and practice the foundational techniques of classic French pastry with Chef Laura.

In this hands-on cooking class, Chef Laura will teach you traditional lessons from the art of French pastry. You will explore a variety of basic skills, from preparing flaky pastry dough to pâte à choux, the base dough for decadent desserts such as eclairs and profiteroles.

Begin with a variety of French fruit tartlets filled with fresh, colorful berries. Next, you will make buttery, swirled cinnamon-sugar palmiers followed by zesty orange and brown butter madeleines. Round out this French baking lesson with light and airy cream puffs with luscious crème pâtissière.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

The lesson was everything I’d hoped for, and I learned several new techniques. Laura is an excellent teacher. She explained things very clearly but let the students do the actual work. Everything was clean and well organized too. The pastries we made looked and tasted like they were from a top-rate bakery.
