What You’ll Do

Chef Nancy invites you to the table for a traditional communal-style Filipino meal.

This cooking class features a boodle fight, or kamayan, is a traditional Philippine feast where banana leaves are spread on the table and food is arranged in an artful pattern. Guests are then invited to dig in using their hands only, although Chef Nancy will supply dinnerware as needed.

Some of the recipes you can look forward to preparing and enjoying during this fun boodle fight feast includes perfectly grilled pork belly, steamed prawns, mussels and okra, egg rolls and fried rice. Chef Nancy will also teach you how to sauté hand-chopped milkfish and chicken liver.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Three of us went for Haute Halal Filipino Favorites class, we enjoyed the company and the food. We also had a visitor that brought in Tamales to taste, so that was a surprise and fun. But we felt that if this was a cooking class we left without learning anything from the Chef. We were hoping for insight into Philippines cooking and basics but we ended up with pre cooked soup that was already made before we showed up. The starter was also pre-made before we showed up. There was only one station so only one person got hands on experience of cooking 3 dishes. So if you want to learn this is not the class for you. If you want to have good food and company this is a great experience. The price felt steep for what our experience was.
