This whole new world of delicious flavors is perfect for those seeking a culinary adventure.
In this hands-on class with Chef Kateland, you will have the opportunity to tinker at the nexus of two cuisines as you learn how to prepare a three-course Asian-Southern fusion menu.
You will begin emulsifying these two culinary traditions by using Southern ingredients and Asian cooking techniques to prepare a tempura fried okra appetizer complete with a remoulade dipping sauce. You can also look forward to learning the secret to preparing meltingly tender short ribs, a citrusy sweet potato side dish, and a ginger and Asian pear tart for dessert.
Guests are welcome to provide wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

Chef Kateland's rendition of fried green tomatoes were tasty, making me glad to have the opportunity to try them for the first time. Crispy, with a tangy remoulade, they also held their texture, avoiding any potential sogginess. The johnnycake topped with spicy shrimp was another Southern-inspired dish that packed diverse textures and flavors. Her meat driven plates - the Kalbi marinated short ribs and Poulet Basquaise - were colorful and seasoned well, demonstrating an adept hand and eye in the kitchen.
Over the past several years, Chef Kateland has risen in the ranks from junior sous chef to senior sous chef at a renowned large-scale, high-end catering company, which hosts events ranging from small parties of 50 to upwards of 3,000 guests. Chef Kateland’s extensive culinary experience, natural leadership skills, and passion for cooking are all showcased in her can’t-miss cooking classes.
