Cooking Class: Basic Cooking Series

Classes to get you started in the kitchen

About

The basic cooking series consists of Wednesday cooking classes providing you enough information and hands on cooking to get you feeling more comfortable in the kitchen.

We'll talk about setting things up for efficiency and ease of use. We'll try different preparation and cooking techniques so you can figure out what works for you. And we'll make food all along the way so you can gain the confidence needed to start making dinner at home. At the end of the class, we will all sit down and enjoy the meal we prepared.

See the menu for individual class details. Take individual classes or the series.

Each 3-hour cooking class session is $75, if you book all three sessions, you pay only $200 in total.

  • Minimum guests: 6

  • Maximum guests: 7

Douglas welcomed us to his well designed home and cooked a delicious 5 course meal. His cooking skills rival that of your Spanish/Moroccan Grandma.

Amazing dinner! The 5-course meal was just delicious while still pretty healthy as Douglas always uses the best ingredients. The people who came to the dinner were really nice and everyone had such a great time. Also, Douglas partner is an interior designer and his place looks beautiful. I will definitely book another meal with Douglas!

The squash soup was very tasty. The upper leg of the chicken was surprisingly delicious. The sauce on the chicken was well paired. The salad was simple, clear and flavorful. The cake served with whipped cream was perfectly sweet.

Meet Your Chef

I have over 30 years of professional restaurant and cooking experience, initially working in Maine and later moving to California. I had the good fortune to study with the founders of the French Laundry for many years. I cook meals for groups of guests and offer cooking classes both of which have been very popular in San Francisco. I continue to travel to Southern Europe to find new ideas and explore the culinary traditions that mix well with California-style cooking.
