Online Cooking Class - Indian Curry and Homemade Naan

Get ready to immerse yourself in the complex flavors and tempting fragrances of Indian cuisine.

During this live and interactive online cooking class with Chef Natasha, you will learn how to prepare two traditional Indian recipes using fresh, high-quality ingredients and time-honored Indian culinary techniques. Chef Natasha will begin by teaching you how to build layers of deep, warming flavors in a traditional Indian chicken curry featuring garam masala. Then, you will learn how to make homemade naan that rivals anything from a tandoori oven.

Prep Work Details

For this class, please mince your garlic and cube your chicken into medium-sized pieces. It is helpful to organize the ingredients by recipe on rimmed baking sheets. Feel free to pre-measure ingredients, but it is not necessary. We encourage you to prep all your ingredients before class as it will allow you to have more time to listen and watch the chef. For all recipes: 1. Wash and dry produce. 2. Preheat oven to 350°F. 3. Set butter out on the counter 30 minutes prior to class to soften if needed for recipe. I look forward to hosting you for this experience.

I loved hearing about Chef Natasha's background, and she threw in some trivia on the spices we were using, and other historical facts that made the class interesting. This also helped with building bonds among the participants!

Overall a good first experience. I would advise future participants on a couple of points: Prep and measure all ingredients beforehand so that you don't need to scramble around during class. Be prepared to melt your butter. Have cornstarch handy in case you need to thicken the curry. Make the curry in a medium cook pot or dutch oven rather than a saute pan or frying pan. Be prepared to mix the yogurt and milk together. Have a whisk, spatula, and stirring spoon handy. You only need to pre-heat your oven if you want to keep the Naan bread warm. Oh, and if you have a gas stove with an exhaust fan make sure your computer speaker is loud enough that you'll be able to hear the chef's guidance over the noise of the fan. Other than that you should be all set!
