What You'll Do

Turn a classic French-inspired meal into a fun date night in Woodmere.

Master the elements of steak frites in this date night cooking class in Woodmere (Cleveland). Chef Michael or a resident chef will show you how to pan-roast steak, turn flavorful drippings into pan jus and prepare crisp frites with garlic truffle aioli. You’ll add contrast with chicory salad and mustard vinaigrette before making orange and honey-poached pears for dessert. From managing heat for steak to creating sauces and poaching fruit, this hands-on cooking class in Woodmere (Cleveland) is packed with techniques couples can bring back to their own kitchen.

Guests are welcome to bring wine and beer to enjoy during the class.

His career in environmental and graphic design included work with Toyota and Amazon before his fascination with cuisine led him to Le Cordon Bleu for a blue ribbon program of study. He honed his talents further as assistant pastry chef at Le Marais. Now, Chef Michael applies his creativity to teaching others the art of cuisine.

I attended this class with my 10 year old stepdaughter. We had a blast! There are times we would have enjoyed doing more, like making the broth or pickled mushrooms, however I understand the time constraints. Chef Michael was very clear and relatable and we would definitely come again!

It was a really fun class! Thankful that we were paired with other wonderful people who made the experience enjoyable as well. The only complaint/issue of the class is how rushed it is and how little you actually cook/are hands on with it. The class was supposed to be 2.5 hours but they rushed it to be done before even 2 full hours because the location was closing. The final dishes also lacked much of the sauce so the photos weren’t as visually appealing. For $200 I think we just expected more, especially since they ask you to BYOB as well. We had a lot of fun though!

While Chef Michael is very knowledgeable (which is why I'm putting 2 stars instead of 1), it was frustrating that almost nothing was that hands on and everything was done for us in advance. I wish I could get a refund or credit to try a different class because nothing new was learned and the only thing my partner did was break lettuce in half, when this was a surprise birthday gift for him. We both were disappointed. The only thing I did was cut parsley and mix butter. I would have loved to go back and try a new course, but I spent $200 on this one and really regret it. If I could sign up for a different course, my mind would maybe change but as of now, I don't recommend spending that much money unless there's a guarantee that it's hands on.
