What You'll Do

Savor the tastes of the South through this hands-on barbecue class.

This cooking class in Newport Beach is where Southern flavors come to life in a welcoming, hands-on setting. Guided by Chef Angel or a resident chef, you'll cook grilled chicken thighs topped with Alabama white sauce, put together a creamy three-cheese mac and cheese, and prepare traditional collard greens. You'll also bake golden skillet cornbread and craft a comforting vanilla peach cobbler. Throughout the class, you'll gain practical experience with the key techniques behind great Southern cooking. This cooking class in Newport Beach is perfect for anyone who loves classic comfort food and wants to learn how to make it well.

Tea, coffee and water will be provided. Guests are welcome to bring non-alcoholic beverages.

This class is suitable for ages 14+ with an adult present. Children under 17 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Class price is per person.

We made stuffed pork tenderloin and it was great! Chef Charlie was accommodating and very entertaining. Highly suggest taking her class!

Chef Quincy did a good job. Especially since he had to pivot regarding the pre-made dumpling wrappers were not available. It felt a bit rushed or unorganized at times, but overall the food came out well. My partner and I both forgot to grab the recipe packets at the end, but I know we can find similar recipes online. I would attend another class.

This was a great class, but we paid more than expected for what felt like a standard class. We were looking for a unique experience, and while we thoroughly enjoyed the class and the food, we were a bit disappointed because we had hoped for something different. Chef Angel was great, and the food was delicious.

We ended up having Chef Casey instruct us for the class, and he was great! There was only 3 of us, so it was very intimate and made for a great, relaxing experience. We learned a few tricks to prepare the food we made, and we even got to take home leftovers from our cooking that night. Was very professional, easy-to-follow, and informative; and we made a delicious meal! My husband and I both went and he has been talking about taking more classes ever since we took this class. Highly recommend, and would love to go back for another class!

Here’s your review translated and polished in English: --- We barely cooked anything ourselves – everything was either fully prepared in advance or done for us. Even the items that weren’t included in the original plan were still prepped by the staff. While I understand that the experience was designed for kids, I came with an older child and specifically asked for some adjustments, but was refused. We definitely enjoyed ourselves as a family, laughed a lot, and had fun together. But there’s no doubt that we could – and should – have been more involved in the cooking experience. It’s a shame. We didn’t even get to arrange the spices ourselves. Honestly, putting cheese on pizza shouldn’t cost this much. All in all, we had a nice time as a family, but I was expecting much more from this experience.

Class was fun and shorter than anticipated. Wished for an in-depth step by step instructions and felt it was fast paced and not beginner friendly. Received guidance later in the class and was disappointed not being able to make the hazelnut gelato. Neither the classroom video camera nor mirror were used in the instructing. Saw many groups were struggling.
