Cooking Class - 3-Day Foodie Fun Kids: Global Fare

A wonderful educational experience aimed at teaching and inspiring future foodies to love the kitchen.

Kids aged 7-11 will delight in these summer cooking classes aimed at building confidence and gaining new skills. Led by chef instructors, groups of young chefs will enjoy culinary lessons and hands-on practice, starting with the basics of kitchen safety and knife skills and then working their way up to creating iconic recipes from around the globe. They will combine fresh produce, herbs and meat for a savory filling for steamed buns from Asia or work up a sweat-kneading scratch-made pasta dough until it's the perfect consistency.

Classes typically run for two to two and a half hours, unless specified otherwise. Group work is a key component; kids can expect to collaborate with four other students. The class involves standing, cooking and active participation throughout. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required and long hair should be securely tied back for safety. Please note that these are drop-off classes. Parents do not stay during the classes.

The experience was not at all what was described on Cozymeal's website. Overall Maybe this was my own misunderstanding but Cozymeal lists the experience we booked as Steak Dinner for Two. I expected a fun date night with my wife where we cook something new together, drink some wine, and then enjoy a nice meal. In reality, it's just a cooking class at Sur La Table where we cooked and ate I'm groups of 4. The other couple at our table was great, but I wasn't expecting to double-date with strangers. Menu I picked this experience in particular because my wife LOVES steak frites. Cozymeal said we would be making steak, fries with a garlic aioli, and a chocolate lava cake. The only accurate part of that description was the steak. It tasted ok, but only after sitting through a 10 minute sales pitch for the Sous Vide system the chef used. The rest of the menu was good (pear and arugula salad, baked potato, and chocolate mousse) but completely different than promised. Drinks Water was the only beverage provided. If we wanted coffee, we had to go into the Sur La Table store and get a sample from one of the espresso machines they were selling. Summary If you want a cooking class, book directly through Sur La Table. Their website is more accurate. If you want a fun date night activity with some quality time with your significant other, use a different service.

The other couple in our class was lovely, but the chef seemed confused about the dish and we didn’t actually cook anything beyond searing some shrimp.
