Cooking Class - 5-Day Foodie Fun Kids: Sensational Bakes

What You’ll Do

An immersive culinary course to inspire and guide your kids to a bright culinary future.

Designed for ages 7-11, these brand-new summer cooking classes are the perfect mix of education and fun. Budding chefs gain confidence and a new set of skills as they work through classic recipes, guided by a chef instructor. They'll mix and knead a variety of batters and doughs, both savory and sweet, as they discover the secret to proofing yeast doughs and how to evenly bake or steam baked goods so they're golden and soft. The last day of the series will include a fun mystery challenge.

Classes typically run for two to two and a half hours, unless specified otherwise. Group work is a key component; kids can expect to collaborate with four other students. The class involves standing, cooking and active participation throughout. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are required and long hair should be securely tied back for safety. Please note that these are drop-off classes. Parents do not stay during the classes.

We really were looking forward to this event. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. There wasn't much "instruction" (chef did it himself or said mince that without instruction and didnt provide tips on best way to peel garlic as one example), resident chef speech was difficult to understand, did not introduce new tools that could have provided more sales in the store. We had to ask for a food mover, for instance. The empanadas were undercooked and steak not made to our requested doneness. We had to eat standing up and not even a linen napkin but a flimsy cocktail napkin. Did not encourage team camaraderie to make it a more fun experience. Can you call him a chef when he is still in school? Definitely an experienced chef would have been ideal. The food was good and event space was pleasant.
